For example, it is best to do spells of a banishing or destructive nature in the waning of the moon, when it is dark and the new moon is about to wane. Wicca for the Beginner First it's important to know that there is no one and only Book of Shadows. This concept is a fictional plot device to explain why magyc is not effective without THE Book of Shadows. The idea is that if you just have the right book all your magyc will be effective. This usually sets up a dynamic between the characters where each tries to possess THE book. Actually, the name simply refers to any book or digital folder that contains a witch's personal spells, potions, references and records. The truth is that any given magycal rite or spell is effective only if it's effective for you. To that end, you will want to gather any and all information that works best for you. How can you tell if something will work for you? Of course, there is so much information out there no one can try everything. To get you started, here is a list of links to online books of shadows. A Picture of the Fairy Kingdom This is a picture of the Fairy Kingdom. Faeries, the fae, elementals – so many different names for our fairy friends! "Hand in hand, with fairy grace,Will we sing, and bless this place." I want to share with you a picture of the Fairy Kingdom, that is, some of the Fairies and Elementals in this very special, mystical world - at least the ones we know about! These wonderful beings are in abundance in our everyday lives, but we usually take no notice of them, or worse yet, we ignore them! With our busy and technological lives, this aspect of living in harmony with nature and the wonderful beings that inhabit it, is rapidly fading away. Now is the time to reconnect, communicate with and appreciate our fairy friends. The King of the Salamanders is a magnificent being called Djinn. The Archangel associated with the Fire Element is Michael.

Bard Woodcrafts: Wood The wood used in Bard Woodcrafts wands comes from several sources: our own wanderings and prunings here in Minnesota, friends who send us branches from their trees, and some wood from milled sources supplied as carving stock. The woods are chosen for their sacred properties in the Celtic and Druidic traditions as well as for their carvability and intrinsic beauty. To aid clients in selecting a type of wood that is right for them, we include here brief descriptions of the magical properties of selected types of wood. Dryads, Trees & the Fifth Element The dryad is the spirit of the tree, its essential pattern. Now, of course, orthodox mundane botany does not usually accord consciousness to trees. Still, it is misleading to anthropomorphize dryads. Although many of the woods are traditionally associated with one of the four classical elements (Air, Fire, Water, Earth), dryads are spirits that do not fall simply into one of these elements. Grey School of Wizardry :: PO Box 758, Cotati CA 94931, USA The Weekly Owl The Honey Jar Family of Magic Spells The Honey Jar Spell is one of the oldest forms of bottle spell in the world. There are so many variations that i call it a "spell family." Most of them consist of a jar or box of liquid or solid sweetener into which you place the personal concerns of the person you want to influence, along with spiritually powerful magical herbs, wrapped in a name-paper or petition packet, and then burning a candle on top of the jar after dressing it with an appropriate conjure oil. This form of hoodoo spell casting is employed when you want to set up a powerful sweetening spell in a small place and keep it working for as long as you wish. In the oldest version of the Honey Jar spell that i know, there is actually no "honey-jar," just a plain white tea cup saucer or coffee cup saucer in the center of which you burn a candle on the person's name, dressed with hoodoo oils and surrounded by a poured-out ring of pancake syrup or mollasses. You will need: Get a small jar of sweetener. should read

Fellowship of Wandmakers On this page are listed some of the other wandmakers I have found on the web. Each wand maker's work is very different. Some produce their wands with a good deal of ceremony and magic, while others aim more humbly to produce beautiful works of craft, leaving the enchantment up to the purchaser. Some are crafted entirely by hand, while others are turned on a lathe. Prices also vary widely. If you are a wandmaker or make hand crafted ritual tools and magical instruments, and would like to exchange links, please let me know: alferian@bardwood.com Handmade Wooden Wands Broom Castle Wands.
