English step 2 Rebecca -novel reading (Learn English Through Story) A novel by British female writer Daphne Du Maurier published in 1938, a best-seller and a masterpiece of gothic literature. Since its publication it has been a great success and many people remember its first line: Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. Alfred Hitchcock filmed a cinema version of the novel (you can watch it here: Rebecca movie version). The heroine meets and falls in love with Maxim de Winter, a rich Englishman whose beautiful wife has recently died under tragic circumstances.

CommonLit Added a Guided Reading Mode for Students CommonLit is a free service that offers a large collection of fiction and nonfiction texts paired to reading questions. You can create a classroom on CommonLit in which you can monitor your students' progress through the texts that you assign to them. Recently, CommonLit added a new feature that they call Guided Reading Mode. When you enable Guided Reading Mode your students will see questions appear in the margin of the documents. Students have to answer those questions correctly in order for the next section of the document to appear. Applications for Education CommonLit has been a favorite resource of mine for a couple of years because of the nature of the thematic questions they provide for thought and discussion.
