Biblos.com: Search, Read, Study the Bible in Many Languages Michael Scheifler's BIBLE LIGHT HOMEPAGE Abraham: Disciple Lessons from the Faith of Abraham His father was a moon-worshipper in Ur of the Chaldeans. But God began to speak and Abraham listened. He struck out from his home and his people to obey God's call to "go to the land I will show you." His wife was barren and old, but God promised Abram a son. Abraham was a flawed man who followed a perfect God. Abraham is rightly called "the father of faith," for he blazed the trail for us. I invite you take a 11-week trek with me -- to go back nearly 4,000 years, cross deserts, ride camels, dwell in tents, acquire wealth, suffer childlessness, sacrifice much, receive promises, and catch a glimpse of the glory of God. Here's how we'll study together. Each Saturday I'll e-mail you the lesson for the week. Here's the outline: The Call of Abraham (11:27-12:9). We'll probably have people from a variety of faith's participating in this study, including Jews and Muslims who revere Abraham (Ibrahim) as a spiritual ancestor.

Dead Sea -- Materials Relating to World of the Scrolls The Origin of the Scrolls and the Qumran Site In "The Dead Sea Scrolls: A New Perspective," Professor Norman Golb of the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago presents evidence to support his view that the Dead Sea Scrolls do not derive from a sect that copied or wrote the manuscripts that were found in the nearby caves. According to Professor Golb, there is no persuasive evidence to support the commonly held view that a sect inhabited the Qumran plateau. Christian Churches of God World Conference The Christian Churches of God (CCG) is a global organization with conferences in Australia, North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. CCG is the largest of the modern branches of the Church of God and imparts the end time message of Scripture. CCG follows the original doctrines of the Church founded by Christ and the apostles. CCG keeps God's original Holy Day sequence in accordance with God's calendar and is recognized as a world authority on the ancient temple calendar system (see God’s Calendar (No. 156). The Constitution of the Christian Churches of God explains the purpose, structure and administration of the Church. CCG is dedicated to providing well-researched, scholarly Bible study papers which outline the original faith of the Christian Church as taught by Messiah and the apostles. CCG teaches that there are only two sacraments given by the Messiah (see paper The Sacraments of the Church [150]). The Apostles tell us that the Bible is of no private interpretation.

Internet Resources for the Study of Judaism and Christianity This page lists a number of sites on the Internet that are useful for the study of Judaism and Christianity. The list is necessarily partial, provisional, and even parochial. A casual glance will show how Penn-centered it is. It is amazing that this much relevant information already exists on the Internet. Some of this material is brilliant, and much of it is useful. One should realize, however, that most original research must still begin in a good library. Thanks to Alan Humm, Anthony F.
