Focaccia

Focaccia
This is the real deal focaccia. The kind infused with herb oil and left for a long cold rise overnight in the fridge to get the best flavor. It's soft, chewy, and savory all at the same time. There are a lot of recipes for quick and easy focaccia but if you have the extra time to let it rise overnight in herb oil it's worth it. What gives the bread its flavor is a herb infused oil. EDIT: You won't use the entire cup of oil in the bread. 1/4 cup goes on the tray, then 1/4 cup spooned on top, then after the rise in the fridge you add UP to a 1/4 cup. To incorporate air bubbles into the dough and to further knead it the focaccia gets stretched and folded three times. First you stretch the dough out on a floured surface to twice its size. Then you fold it like a letter and lightly brush it with oil... ...and sprinkle it with flour then cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes you stretch and fold again. Also don't worry if this looks like too much oil.

The Pastry Affair - Home - Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread I once made the driest pancake in the world. I can see you sitting at home, staring at your computer screen, and scoffing at my bold statement. Driest pancake in the world? Yeah, right. How would you even know? But this is the truth, my friends. Let me share my story with you. A few years back, I made chocolate chip pancakes. Quickly flash to the next morning. Still cold. Confusion. Was the microwave broken? I got angry, as one will when they want food and want it now. When I took it out, the pancake was slightly less cool. It took me a few hours to realize what had happened. It only stands to reason that my pancake was so utterly dry that there wasn't enough water in it to be absorbed by the microwaves. Thus, the world's driest pancake was born. And to think I took a bite... Luckily, this Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread is definitely not dry. The Ultimate Strawberry Lemonade One of the first times I ever realized that – HEY! I can cook for myself! – was when I first learned to make lemonade. I magically found the refrigerated lemon juice at our house and followed the directions to make my own lemonade. I stirred and stirred and stirred again until that sugar was finally dissolved. Speaking of which, what gives sugar?! Sorry for the detour. Anyway, there was a summer there where I made my own lemonade every single day, making sure to rub it in my sister’s face that I knew how to and she didn’t. The key to this being the ultimate lemonade is that you blend it up with the lemon rind in there. And any time of day for that matter. (makes 2 pint-glass servings with ice) 3/4 cup sugar2 large lemons, microwaved for 30 seconds2 cups water1 cup of frozen strawberries, microwaved for 1 minute (you could use fresh, but I think the frozen works better here) In a blender squeeze the lemons and add the rest of the lemon, rind and all.

Jamaican Banana Fritters - ThatsSoYummy.com There’s a thing in my house that when you have ripe ol bananas either you make banana bread or banana fritters. These delicious tasty treats can be eaten morning, noon, or night, as a snack or as dessert. These fritters are so easy to make and will satisfy any craving you may have. So if you have a few of these bananas lying around your hose… don’t toss them, put them to GREAT use! Enjoy! Peel and mash the ripe bananas. Beat egg, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Next, blend egg mixture with mashed bananas. Make sure it is all incorporated. Then sift flour and baking powder into the banana/egg mixture. Mix it all together. If the batter seems to be too thick add a little milk… I added about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of milk. Add oil to a frying pan and place on medium high heat. Drop spoonfuls of the banana fritter batter into the hot oiled frying pan. Flip when you see the edges starting to get brown and golden. Lastly, combine cinnamon and sugar together to create your cinnamon sugar. Ingredients

Colorful swirled cupcakes | Chica and Jo With as many ways as there are to decorate cupcakes, they can be really boring if you just slap some plain icing on them. I like to make them fun and interesting, and one of my favorite ways to do that is with colorful, swirled icing. Rather than mix food coloring into the icing, I use it to paint the decorator bag, creating a result so crazy and cool that you won’t believe you got it from such a simple technique. Let me show you how! Gather the supplies The first things you’ll need, of course, are cupcakes and icing! Select the colors The best part about this technique is that you can choose any colors you want and can customize it to the occasion. You’ll be painting from 4 to 6 stripes of color for your icing, but you can repeat colors, so you really only need at least 2 different colors (up to 6 max). Paint the bags Okay, now for the actual technique! Now use the paint brush to paint stripes of color on the inside of the bag, starting at the tip and going up about 3-4 inches. The results

The Crepes of Wrath Top 10 Popular Shot & Shooter Recipes | The Intoxicologist Today, September 22, marks the day for the fastest drinking record; Dustin Phillips of the United States consumed a 14 ounce bottle of Ketchup through a 1/4” straw in 33 seconds flat ten years ago. Ketchup seems a nasty ‘beverage’ to guzzle willingly, yet many enthusiastic participants flock to bars weekly to start (or end) the evening with the downing of a shot that none would eagerly sip slowly enough to take in the flavor or texture for a lingering moment on the tongue. Admittedly there are many shot recipes that make the conversion to cocktail easily. The Oatmeal Cookie shot is an outstanding example. However, many prefer shots and shooters too horrid to down without holding the nose or throwing them back feverishly with a beer chaser or *gasp* water back. Chai Pancakes January 19, 2012 | Print | E-mail | Filed under chai As long as I can remember, I’ve always a loved pancakes. Well, maybe except for one summer growing up after a fateful camping trip with my family. The campground we frequented always had a big pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, which was pretty exciting…all you can eat pancakes with butter, syrup, bacon, sausage, and jam. One Saturday morning after my family and I had loaded up our plates with pancakes, we all sat down together to eat breakfast. 1 cup unbleached all-purpose or white whole wheat flour1 tsp baking soda1/4 tsp salt1/4 cup + 1 Tbsp milk1/4 cup chai concentrate2 Tbsp honey2 eggs In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. The Pastry Affair - Home - Butterbeer This is part III in a mini-series of Harry Potter snacks from the books brought to life (part I is on Honeydukes treats, part II is all about the cauldron cakes, and part IV showcases decadent butterbeer cupcakes). Last August, my family made the two thousand mile journey to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. Orlando has always been one of my family's favorite vacation destinations. Add in my love (and obsession) with Harry Potter and we all knew that once the park officially opened I couldn't be kept away for long. On the big day, we woke up at an obscene hour to a bright dawn. While the rest of my family was dragging their feet and speaking in yawns, I was too excited to dwell on my lack of sleep and tired eyes. This was my moment. When I entered the park, I was immediately swept away by the architecture and the detail. I'm pretty sure I had a grin on my face a mile wide. Believe it or not, "window shopping" was one of my favorite sights in the park.
