Gay Men's Art Project 5. Who is in charge of the Gay Men's Art Project? The Gay Men's Art Project was the brain child of Rick Julien and Dan de Figueiredo. They jointly facilitate the group. They started the group in November 2010 with the purpose of providing a free outlet for the creative expression of Gay Men. 6. How does a typical meeting unfold? Typically we begin with a short introduction where each participant gives his name. 7. Our meetings are held at The 519 Church Street Community Centre which is located at 519 Church Street (near Church and Wellesley) in downtown Toronto. 8. We hold our meetings twice a month, the first Saturday of each month from 2-4pm, and the third Monday of every month from 6-8pm. 9. The GMAP logo was created by Rick Julien and was inspired by the famous AIDS sculpture created by the Toronto-based art collective, General Idea.

Stock Artists Alliance - Welcome | Stock Artists Alliance leader de l'information sur le marché de l'Art Artists Space thoughts on art and creative living » Textured Backgrounds for Mixed Media Painting Here’s some inspiration for employing textured backgrounds in your paintings or mixed media collages. There’s a number of ways to create texture. One of my favorite techniques is perhaps the most simple: embedding plastic wrap into paint. The above examples were done in watercolor, whereas those below were done with acrylics. I frequently create an acrylic background that’s lighter in color than the one that I glaze over it. You can also create wonderful textures by bunching up the plastic, swooshing it around into your paint mixture, and then pouncing it onto the surface of your painting. Taking the plastic wrap technique a step further, you can also use bubble-wrap textures to create patterned circles. You can do this by either pressing the bubble wrap directly into the wet paint, OR by using a brayer to get the paint on the surface, then pressing the wrap onto your painting. I used bubble-wrap as a texture in my painting, “Mating Dreams”. Staining and Painting Papers for Collage
