CLAYTON PATTERSON "$16 BURGER SHOW" at Galerie Au Bon Punk, New York Clayton Patterson is a little recognized but prolific painter, photographer, and embroiderer who has been a visionary of Manhattan's Lower East Side for decades. The show features never befor seen work, historic embroidered hats (which have been collected by the likes of Gus Van Sant, Matt Dillon, Mick Jagger, and Thomas Guinzburg) as well as Clayton's icon art. The exhibition is presented by Galerie Au Bon Punk, a collective partially comprised by the punk-rock group Dameht, and serves as a farwell for Clayton before he moves away from NYC. For More Inspired by flowing water and waterfalls, Austin Scarlett showed a light and fluid collection with silhouettes that skimmed the body. There was intensive research and dazzling experimentation behind the ready-to-wear Nicolas Ghesquière turned out during his 15-year career at Balenciaga—and his shows always delivered a strong dose of fashion with a capital F. Yet backstage after his debut at Louis Vuitton, it was another F word—function—that came up time and again as the Frenchman discussed his approach to the storied house, marking its 160th anniversary this year.
