*no animals or plants were hurt in the making of this project. *one really stupid person did get hurt in the making of this project, but she would like to mention that even though the needle penetrated...no swear words passed her lips. it's was a modern day miracle. i love how this pillow turned out. i made it in green for two reasons: 1. it's still kind of cold here, and still kind of brown...will be for a little bit longer so i wanted some GREEN and springy looking happiness in my home. 2. it's the only color of jersey i had on hand, and living in the middle of nowhere doesn't let me just jump in the car and go to a store that i can find jersey fabric at (which btw this fabric was found at jo-anns but i would suggest amazon if you can't find what you are looking for, that's where i get a lot of mine when i can't find stuff) now lets get started: cutting: *cut from jersey fabric 19 strips at 1 1/2" each. *from each of the 19 strips cut 15: 4" length rectangles. the end. All you need is some knit fabric and coordinating thread. Usually knit fabric is about 60 inches wide. Cut two strips of fabric across the whole width of your fabric. Lay one on top of the other, WRONG sides together. Now we’re going to ruffle the edges. Also, make sure to stretch your fabric as you sew. Turn the raw edges to the inside. Now match both ends up. Use a blind stitch to sew both ends together. Then do the same thing on the other side of the scarf.

Sew by Hand Hello, my name is Dawn Anderson and my company is Dawn Anderson Designs. I have a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Indiana University, specializing in Theater Costume Design, Traditional Hand Tailoring and Pattern Making. I have worked as a freelance designer, tailor, milliner, and sewing instructor for 14 years. Today I would like to show you how to sew by hand. Please keep in mind sewing room safety. Hand Sewing Stitches Posted on 2008 under sew dresses | 23 Aug Sewing easy sewing stitches is the best way for beginners to get started. There are often times when machine sewn projects also need some hand sewing done. Here is an excellent chart I found from Britannica Online Encyclopedia. Running stitch is made of up and down stitches of equal length. Hemming stitch is made by beginning the stitch inside the fabric that is folded down and taking a few threads from the outer fabric, then bring the needle back up through the edge of the fold. Basting stitch is similar to the running stitch in that is is made of up an down stitches, however, the basting stitch is made with long stitches and can be made without knotting the thread so it can be easily taken out. Overcast stitch is made by making diagonal stitches over the raw edge of the fabric. Invisible stitch is made in between the two fabrics, taking a few threads from the top fabric and then a few threads from the bottom fabric.

Shark Hoodie Towel I have made the hoodie towels before, but I wanted to share this one with you as well. We have a little friend who likes princesses, well enough, but she really likes construction sites, sharks and blue too. Her birthday is coming up, so I give you… 1 bath towel steel gray1 hand towel steel graysmall amount of pellon VERY thin one-side fusible interfacingsmall amount of white terry cloth.thread (white and shark gray) Tools: craft scissorsfabric scissors The full tutorial for the towel is here. Here, I laid out a paper fin pattern on the top of the hood. (Note, the hood on this towel is rounded rather than being squared off. ) Next, cut the stabilizer for the fin slightly smaller than the terry cloth to allow for the seams. (I sewed this on the serger. For the teeth, I had strip of white terry. Finish both of the bottom edges. (if you don’t have a serger – just zig zag the edges.) Bendy Dolls i LOVE bendy dolls. i really do. i remember first making these back when i was in girl scouts as a kid. Of course the ones i make now are much nicer, but the concept is still the same. They are very easy to make, and kids love them. i've had a lot of requests from folks asking just how they are made, so i thought i'd put together a tutorial. After repairing a bunch of bendies that the puppy chewed on, i decided to make Sage a few news ones for Yule. i'm working on putting together a few full play sets, i'll post pics of those later. Alice was a special request, but i'm feeling inspired to make a full set...including the Mad hatter, Queen of hearts a few of the card knights and a needle felted white rabbit and Cheshire cat. :) Okay, that may be a bit too ambitious for me. :) i've also started an under water mermaid set. OKay, on to the tutorial. Cut your pipe cleaner in three pieces, so you'll have one 4" piece (arms) and one 8" piece (legs). Wrap the hand very tightly.
