The Ultimate Complete Final Social Media Sizing Cheat Sheet In June of this year, we published an infographic listing all of the sizing information for images on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest. It was a wildly successful piece of content, totally blowing our expectations out of the water. Unfortunately, while its popularity has flourished, nearly every social network instituted changes to their image sizes, rendering most of the information on the infographic out of date. We knew we needed to update the information on the cheat sheet, but we weren’t comfortable with simply adjusting one or two figures on the blog post and leaving it as-is. We also decided to permanently redirect the old sheet here, so that shared tweets, pins, likes, and so on, would lead to the correct sizing dimensions. So, without further ado, here it is – the ultimate, complete, final social media sizing cheat sheet. Embed the cheat sheet on your own blog or site using the embed code below! What is Your Myers Briggs Social Media Type? Have you ever taken the Myers Briggs test? It is an assessment based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types that looks at what kind of characters people have and is broken down into four categories: extraversion or introversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving. These assessments are extremely accurate if taken properly and essential to group constructions for projects and group dynamics. Recently, the developers of the study, CPP, compared their data to those who use social media and the results are fascinating. Here are some of the best parts of the stats of users on the infographic: 69% of extraverts use Facebook, higher than the 65% average of all people, and more than the 60% of introverts.75% of feeling people browse once a day but only 23% share about their personal lifeIntuition people are more likely to use LinkedIn and Twitter than Sensing people. (8) Business, Social & Technology Trends for 2013 How Local Search Will Evolve in 2013 [6 Predictions] A decade from now, when the next John Battelle writes the definitive retrospective on the mobile-local internet, my guess is that 2012 will be viewed as the tipping point for local search. At Google, 2011 may well be viewed as more critical, but 2012 was a much bigger year for the space as a whole, especially from the consumer’s and business owner’s perspective. It’ll be tough for 2013 to top a year that saw: The acceleration of local search volumes due to unprecedented smartphone adoptionThe growing ubiquity of mobile payment devicesThe release of Google+ LocalThe release of Apple Maps (and inclusion of Yelp reviews front-and-center)The release of the Google Maps appThe release of Facebook Nearby Even if you focus on just those last three bullet points, 2012 still reigns supreme: When the three largest players in Silicon Valley all release major locally-oriented products within three months of each other, you know the space is heating up. Seven steps for effective Twitter monitoring Twitter is Econsultancy’s largest and busiest social channel. At time of writing we have about 125,000 followers there, and are growing consistently. Keeping an eye on all the activity there and looking for useful opportunities takes up a substantial part of my day, and while there are a number of paid services that can update me and keep me supplied with reports, I also like to check in realtime throughout the day. I thought I’d quickly run through the various searches I have in place so that you can set up an effective realtime monitoring station... Before we begin, let’s run through a few caveats. Econsultancy’s brand terms are fairly narrow. If you’re a business with multiple brand names and terms (let’s say someone like The BBC as an example), then you’ll definitely need to invest in an enterprise level monitoring solution (luckily we have a guide to help you, isn’t that handy?) Social vs Search Traffic Adios search. Is social media finally set to become the premier vehicle for driving web traffic and customer engagement with your brand? Checking in on the latest volley in the battle of social vs. search. For the last decade, search has dominated the B2B Internet marketing landscape. Today, however, the debate over the best way to drive traffic to your site, blog, sales content, or whatever else you want customers and prospects to see isn’t so one-sided. In a post for Folio, Greg Levitt writes that despite the fact the SEO industry is projected to grow to $3 billion in 2013, that growth may very well occur while social media overtakes search as the leading source of referral traffic to publishers. Venture capitalist Fred Wilson seems to validate that prediction in a post on his blog, writing that social referrals now account for more than a third of his monthly traffic. Okay, so that’s just one example. “Personally, I’m committed to driving more website traffic from social.
