Chocolate Party Spoons!

Chocolate Party Spoons!
My original thinking with these beauties was that they would become the modern day Welsh Love Spoon. The one you'd actually like to receive on Valentine's Day, as opposed to one of those outrageously over-priced and overwhelmingly useless, hideous, hand crafted, wooden goodfornothings. Those of you not in the same country as I am might not know what a Welsh Love Spoon is, and in this case, Google is your best friend - he's found this for you. My timing is off though; I've been busy! I confess that, fabulous though my spoons are, they were not actually my own idea; I saw something similar in a Valentine-themed cookbook in Tokyo a week or so ago, and immediately decided to make some at home (as I've said, as Valentine's gifts, but that didn't happen). I'm just mad for this one - it's like a jewelled brooch! The making and eating is ridiculously fun and easy to do; you could even get children to help. (A tutorial - ha!) Now, hold on to your hats, because here we go.

Dans un monde de rêves Cake Stand It seems as though all sorts of cute party decorating items are “all the rage” these days–cake stands, tiered plates, apothecary jars, hurricane lamps, etc. I love these items, but there is often one big problem! The price tag. Well, thanks to one of the crafty moms in my MOPS group, I now can make my own cake stands for less than $3! And, not only is the price fantastic, but this might just be the easiest DIY project on the planet. A candle holder, a plate, and some glue! To construct your stand, glue around the rim of the candle holder. You can add a little circle of glue on the underneath side of the plate for good measure. Stick the two together and let dry. Then, voila, an adorable cake stand for next to nothing! How great would these be for a Mother’s Day luncheon/tea?! In addition to the fantastic price & ease of construction, I love that the possibilities are nearly endless! *This post was written by Sara, a contributing writer for the Happy Housewife.

Rainbow Cake Aaannnndddd, she’s back! So I did mention something about health and/or diet food in my last post, and while this recipe is the latter, it is most certainly not to be confused with the former. I posted about my rainbow cake here, and it got a lot of traffic on over to my livejournal, and everyone wanted the “recipe.” The cool thing is that if you’re making something so distractingly colourful, people will think it’s delicious no matter what. This presents me with the option to use an old Weight Watchers trick—the one-point cupcake. This cake is suitable for many occasions: A child’s birthdayYour mom’s birthdayComing out to your conservative parents If you’re a lesbian, they’ll be thrilled that you won’t be forgoing your feminine kitchen duties. If you’re the kind of gay dude who makes cakes for your parents, they were probably on to you anyway.Coming out to your conservative parents on your mother’s birthdayYour friend’s jam band CD release party Okay, on with the ingredients. That’s all.

Rapunzel's Resource Custom Sprinkles Happy New Year!!! I hope that everyone had a fabulous holiday. Personally, I am very excited for the coming year. As I mentioned in my last post, I will be starting a new weekly feature on party planning. Today, I am going to show you a quick and easy way to make your own custom-colored sprinkles. In case you didn't know, I am kinda crazy for sprinkles. Here's what you'll need to get started: * white sprinkles (jimmies) or non-pareils * powdered food coloring or petal dust * small plastic bags * toothpicks * glass jars for storage I bought my sprinkles by the pound from a local cake decorating shop. To begin, place some sprinkles in a small ziploc bag and, using a toothpick, add a very small amount of your powdered food coloring or petal dust. Keep in mind that a little of this stuff goes a long way. You can always add more, but you don't need very much to get a pretty amazing effect. I went a little crazy and made a ton of colors... I like to store mine in glass spice jars. XOXOJessica

mille et une coiffures, un blog de tutoriels de coiffures pour cheveux longs Soft Pretzel Dogs I have this embarrassing salad bar practice. You’re going to think I’m silly (or else you’re going to leave me a comment saying, “I DO THAT EXACT SAME THING!” and make me feel a little better. No pressure.) See, I’m a little shy about how much salad dressing I eat. To deal with this uncomfortable situation, I developed a little pantomime routine in which I dump as much salad dressing as I want on my salad before giving a little gasp and jerking the bottle up as if to say, “Oops! I’m sure the lemon-spritzers in line behind me think I’m disappointed that my salad got drenched and that I’m really only eating it because I hate to waste food . . . right?! The truth is, while I eat reasonably all week, I go all out on the weekends. In college, the impressive amount I could eat would become glaringly apparent in the dining hall, where most gals were ordering half a grapefruit for breakfast and my plate was overflowing with bacon and eggs. P.S.

DIY Turban We’ve recently received several requests for a turban DIY and so, your wish is our command . . . Before you start, tie your hair in a bun or ponytail. Fold a large square scarf in half into a triangle. Once you’ve twisted the ends twice into a knot, bring both sides together to the back of your head and tie it tight. Voila, you’ve just made a turban! (top image from here, rest of images by Honestly…WTF) Singapore Fashion Blog: DIY Fashion tutorial | Ann demeulemeester Epine thorn necklace | Monoxious This DIY is an user request, we thought we’d take up the challenge. It was a pain in the ass trying to source the proper leather in Singapore so we had to end up ordering online. I’m pretty sure our readers overseas have better leather sources than us. You will need: Leather: preferably lambskin or kid leather cause it’s softer. Mark a length of “vine” on the leather. Start marking the thorns along the length of the vine. Rinse, repeat. Use the black craft wire (or black jump rings) to attach the two vines together. You will end up with the leather pieces looking like this. And there you have it! We have also decided to take it a little further and did something a little more challenging because we are masochistic like that with the same method of wrapping and twisting. If you would like to try this out, you will need extra materials like a thin metallic hairband and also a thinner and more malleable craft wire (possibly more leather as well).
