Busy Life Meditation Busy Life, No SelfBy Joseph Goldstein I was recently thinking about some close friends who are younger than I am, raising families, with busy lives in the world. I could appreciate that it might be quite some time before they would be able to sit a long retreat, where it’s easier to access meditative depths. When we’re otherwise intensely engaged, this can be quite a challenge. So I started wondering if there was a way for people with busy lives to integrate some kind of meditation technique into their daily activities that would still touch the transformative power of the practice. The basic understanding of anatta, or ‘no-self’ – the absence of an inherently existing self – is one of the most difficult concepts to work with. So the question arose, how can we address this issue as lay people caught up in our day-to-day activities? Session 1: Who is Hearing? The other exercise for loosening identification with the body is carried out in motion.

7 Cup of Tea is an online therapy that offers free counseling online, chat based, with a listener who just listens to your problems or any issues you’re dealing with or reach out to an online therapist and what they both have in common is that you are able to choose who you want to be the listener or an online therapist for free. Of course, there is online support groups that you can join. The website offers so many resources to fit one’s individual needs.

This is relevant to my topic because I wanted to see an actual online support group website where they offer these types of resources. The website provide valuable advice for their audiences such as giving out reasons why clients and therapists often prefer text-based psychotherapy which they understand people who have social anxiety can benefit from this. They do provide a video where they give an insight on the overall website goal and what their intentions are and they mention emotional support and instrumental support by having it to be affordable and majority of the resources free. They mention the emotional support such as giving people shoutouts and words of encouragement to give support for those who are struggling or putting the effort day by day. What I learned looking from an actual online support system group website is when they compared traditional vs online therapy and online therapy advantage is “ It gives the added bonus of allowing people to take their time to explore their thoughts, and put them into words.” This information is important because there might be people who struggle to open up face to face with a therapist in front of them and might be pressured to give out an answer a therapist might want to hear. With online therapy, it makes them write down and process their thoughts clearly than speaking freely of their problems. This is what the website offers a different viewpoint because they know what people might just a person who listens or give them advice and this website offers both which in other online support groups, they do not have that feature of a “listener.” by online_social_support Dec 2
