Wave - Communicate and collaborate in real time As we announced in August 2010, we are not continuing active development of Google Wave as a stand-alone product. Google Wave will be shut down in April 2012. This page details the implication of the turn down process for Google Wave. Stage 1: Google Wave is read-only -- January 31, 2012 In this stage, you will no longer be able to create or edit waves. Robots that try to write to a wave will stop functioning. During this time, you will continue to be able to export your waves using the existing PDF export feature. If you want to continue using Wave, there is an open source project called Walkaround that includes an experimental feature to import all your waves from Google.

Cloud Drive Notebook As of July 2012, Google Notebook has shut down and all Notebook data should now be in Google Docs. As previously announced, in most cases we were able to automatically export the Notebook data, so please visit Google Docs. Also please update any bookmarks or links to Notebook so that they point to Docs instead. Here are answers to some questions about this transition. We may add or update questions over time. Where is my auto-exported notebooks data? For auto-exported documents, you should see a new document in Google Docs for each notebook you had in Google Notebook. If you are having trouble finding the new docs, search for “Imported from Google Notebook” in the doc list. What happened to public notebooks? All public notebooks were unshared. What happened to bookmarks stored in bookmarks.google.com? Bookmarks data is not affected; you will still be able to access your bookmarks at bookmarks.google.com. I’ve never used Google Docs. What should I do if there’s a problem with my data?

Soonr Map Maker Google Map Maker officially closed on March 31, 2017, and many of its features are being integrated into Google Maps. Since 2008, the Google Map Maker community has edited and moderated millions of features to improve the Google Maps experience. To make it easier for all Google Maps users to contribute changes to the map, we’ve started to graduate functionality from Map Maker to Google Maps on both desktop and mobile. Latitude Google Latitude was retired on August 9th, 2013. Products retired include Google Latitude in Google Maps for Android, Latitude for iPhone, the Latitude API, the public badge, the iGoogle Gadget, and the Latitude website at maps.google.com/latitude. What does this mean for me? You are no longer able to share your location using Latitude. We haven’t included Latitude as a feature in the latest version of Google Maps for mobile on Android and you can no longer see Latitude for iPhone on the App Store. Your list of friends on Latitude is no longer visible. While location sharing is no longer possible with Latitude, there are still actions you can take with your location information: Share using Google+ You can share your location with your friends on Google+ using the Google+ app on your Android or iOS device. PowerMeter - Save Energy. Save Money. Make a Difference. We launched Google PowerMeter as a free energy monitoring tool to raise awareness about the importance of giving people access to their energy information. PowerMeter included key features like visualizations of your energy usage, the ability share information with others, and personalized recommendations to save energy. We partnered with device manufacturers and utilities around the world. Many of our partners now have new options available for accessing energy information. We are pleased that PowerMeter helped demonstrate the importance of access to energy information, and created a model for others. We continue to see encouraging results about the importance of access to energy data. Momentum is building toward making energy information more readily accessible, and it’s exciting to see others drive innovation and pursue opportunities in this important new market. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished with PowerMeter and look forward to what will develop next in this space.

Google Scholar Stopping the Gears Last February, we let you know we were shifting our focus from Gears to HTML5. Over the last year or so, we’ve been working closely with other browser vendors and standards bodies to help define and standardize HTML5 features across browsers, and we’ve worked hard to improve these HTML5 capabilities in Chrome: We implemented support for application caches, which are a great replacement for Gears’ offline features. App caches are already being used by web apps like the NYTimes app in the Chrome Web Store. There is also full-featured debugging support for application caches in Chrome’s developer tools.Together with our friends at Mozilla and Microsoft, we proposed, specified, and implemented the IndexedDB API. With all this now available in HTML5, it’s finally time to say goodbye to Gears. The code itself will of course remain open source, and anyone is free to use it. Our mission with Gears was to enable more powerful web applications.
