The Pastry Affair - Home - Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread I once made the driest pancake in the world. I can see you sitting at home, staring at your computer screen, and scoffing at my bold statement. Driest pancake in the world? Yeah, right. How would you even know? Let me share my story with you. A few years back, I made chocolate chip pancakes. Quickly flash to the next morning. Still cold. Confusion. Was the microwave broken? I got angry, as one will when they want food and want it now. When I took it out, the pancake was slightly less cool. It took me a few hours to realize what had happened. It only stands to reason that my pancake was so utterly dry that there wasn't enough water in it to be absorbed by the microwaves. Thus, the world's driest pancake was born. And to think I took a bite... Luckily, this Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Bread is definitely not dry. Genius Part 3 [30 Pics] For More Genius Pics Go Here: But I am le tired... The Recipe Here is the cola recipe referenced in our episode Original Recipe. All of these ingredients can be bought online. Instructions follow the ingredient list. Download PDF How to Make This Recipe As we said in the radio story, this recipe includes two parts. When you buy your ingredients be careful that you buy FOOD GRADE. And before you start, you may want to read these helpful tips sent in by a listener in Chicago. 1) Make the 7X flavor. For a home recipe, you can get an eyedropper and count drops the old-fashioned way, but if you want to be more precise, Steve Warth at Sovereign Flavors says he estimated each drop was .025 grams, which means you want 0.5 grams of Orange Oil, 0.75 of Lemon Oil, 0.25 grams of Nutmeg Oil, 0.125 grams of Coriander Oil, 0.25 grams of Neroli Oil, 0.25 grams of Cinnamon Oil (historian Mark Pendergrast says the original Coke recipe was made with a kind of cinnamon called Cassia). Combine those with 8 ounces of food grade alcohol. 3) Make the syrup. Several Notes:

Brazilian Lemonade This is my most favorite drink. Ever. Maybe I’d feel differently if I drank (as in alcohol), but there is nothing I love more than a warm, breezy afternoon and a pitcher of Brazilian lemonade. I didn’t try it for a long, long time because I was very put off by putting sweetened condensed milk in with citrus fruit. It starts off with fresh, juicy limes. You pop them in a blender with some sugar water and pulse just a few times. Pour the mixture from the blender through a strainer and into a pitcher, thus saving all of the flavorful liquid. Then the secret ingredient: sweetened condensed milk. Brazilian LemonadeOur Best Bites Ingredients: 4 juicy limes (try and find ones with thin, smooth skins; they’re the juiciest and the thin skin cuts down on the chance of your drink being bitter) 1 c. sugar 6 c. cold water 6 Tbsp. sweetened condensed milk Instructions: Mix cold water and sugar very well and chill until ready to use. Place 1/2 of the limes in your blender.

Irish Car Bomb Cupcakes Recipe As I mentioned on Friday, I have been doing some experimentation with the beer and chocolate combination. The Guinness-chocolate ice cream that I made totally kicked butt, so I couldn’t wait to see how I liked beer and chocolate in my cake. The answer? I like it, a whole heck of a lot. This was my first time doing Guinness-chocolate cakes, and I was totally optimistic that I would love it, and I was definitely right. These cupcakes are fashioned after the popular drink that consists of a shot of Baileys Irish Cream and Irish whiskey dropped into a pint of Guinness. These cupcakes consist of a Guinness-chocolate cake base, which has a wonderful depth of flavor and is also supremely moist. While you can’t really taste the beer in the cupcakes (it serves as more of a flavor enhancer for the chocolate), you can definitely taste the alcohol in the filling and the frosting. I think I need to start converting more drinks into baked goods, this was too much fun (and way delicious!).

Cakepops With The Babycakes Cake Pop Maker – And A Babycakes Cakepop Maker Giveaway! One of my Mother’s Day gifts this year was the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker. I will admit, my first thought was “I bet this won’t work”. Cake pops require baking and destroying a cake, mushing it with frosting, and forming all of the pops by hand. It just won’t work if you don’t do it the way Bakeralla does it. I thought the cake pops would be dry, they will fall off the stick and probably won’t even taste good. While I had my doubts, I also have to admit that I don’t LOVE the traditional cake pops (please don’t judge me!). I am very happy to report that I was extremely impressed with the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker. My cake pop maker (which was purchased at Kohl’s – with coupons and sales you can score a great deal on one) came with the machine, sticks, a fork, a syringe for fillings and a cake pop stand. Whenever I need to fill a bag like this, I use a heavy mug to hold the bag for me while I scoop in the frosting or batter. Look how cute they are! They cooled quite quickly. Cake pop anyone?
