40 Beautiful Examples of Bokeh Photography Inspiration by Bill Jones 16inShare I’m sure most of you have heard of the term bokeh. Basically it is referring to the aesthetic quality of the blur produced from a shot with shallow depth of field. Determining factors of bokeh are things like lens aberrations and shape of lens aperture. Bokeh is a very subjective thing. Do Not Underestimate the Power of Fanart | What The Flux To gear up for the Houston Symphony concert featuring music from Star Wars (and an excuse to have more geekiness for today), we’ve collected a series of fan made posters that are all about the Force — whether its the light side or the dark side. To make things more interesting than just your average guy with a light saber, these featured artists’ work are stylized in solids, minimalism, or with a retro theme. Let’s start things off with this incredible piece of Boba Fett paying homage to The Rocketeer:

50 Years Ago: The World in 1961 - Alan Taylor - In Focus A half-century ago, much of the world was in a broad state of change: We were moving out of the post-World War II era, and into both the Cold War and the Space Age, with broadening civil rights movements and anti-nuclear protests in the U.S. In 1961, John F. Kennedy was inaugurated as the 35th president of the United States, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to fly in space, Freedom Riders took buses into the South to bravely challenge segregation, and East Germany began construction of the Berlin Wall. Steve Simpson's Illustration Portfolio For a while, as a kid I was fascinated by sign language and spent hours learning it with a friend. To us, it was a secret language only we could understand. I think my best illustrations always have a element of the unpredictable about them, a serendipitous input. Something that wouldn’t normally be associated with the subject. While roughing out my thoughts on the Revolution illustration I’d photographed my own hand (in the traditional fist of defiance pose) for reference. I quickly found reference for the Sign Language Alphabet online and played around with a grid pattern.
