How to Use Padlet in the Classroom: A Fantastic Teaching Tool
Padlet is a versatile, easy to use tool for every teacher’s toolkit. Let’s learn the basics. At the bottom of this post, I have a Padlet that is temporarily open for you to post and share your favorite edtech tools. Richard Byrne, author of Free Technology for Teachers, spent some time teaching the teachers at my school about Padlet. I’ve got some notes in this article that he mentioned in the workshop to give him due credit. Richard has a fantastic blog, and I highly recommend it. www.padlet.com What you can share on Padlet: The box where you type or share your item. Young Adult Novels That Teach a Growth Mindset Heroes in books and movies captivate kids, many of whom could teach a master class on these characters. The fresh perspective teachers can offer is how students themselves can and should be heroes. As advocates of growth mindset, we can teach children that heroism does not require obsession with perfection or product. We should show students that we also value process and progress. Heroic stories can help: They teach students about mitigating mistakes, learning from loss, and overcoming adversity, all of which are key elements of growth mindset.

I immediately instituted it in my classroom, trained the students how to use it, and have not looked back since. It allows for incredibly easy document distribution to students and paperless assignment collecting/grading for teachers. It is intuitive, easy, useful, and pretty much free to use. This app is absolutely essential for any 1:1 iPad classroom at any and all grade levels. How to Choose the Right Images When Teaching about Genocide Images are an important entry to stories of genocides and mass violence. They provide evidence and context but they can also shock us, jolting us into the immense amount of human suffering that occurred. This is why we must be careful when we prepare lessons for students that touch on such graphic and often difficult-to-absorb topics. There is no shortage of images to choose from.
