Messy Rope Braids and Low Bun Hair Tutorial These little rope braids are a fun way to add a little style with your own hair, creating a sort-of headband of sorts. Your hair doesn’t need to be extremely long, but you do need some length to cover the top of your head with. If you have layers, you could instead create a tiny French Braid where the hair is shorter and closer to your head, if that makes sense. But it’s a fun and cute braided hair style that’s just a little different. DIY Wrap Bracelet You should all know by now that we are all about stacking bracelets on our wrists. The more, the better. In fact . . . the most, the best! With that being said, we’ll show you how to master a version of the ever so popular wrap bracelet. It’s so simple and addicting, you’ll soon be churning out these wristlets with your eyes closed. Clearly this arm party train isn’t stopping and it’s about time you get on board! You’ll need (for a double wrapped bracelet) :* Lengths will vary depending on the size of your wrist (see comments for suggestions). Fold the length of leather cording in half to form a loop. Place the ball chain along the leather cording with the end of the chain meeting the end of the wrap. Continue wrapping while checking it for fit around the wrist. When you have reached the end of the ball chain wrap the linen cording around the leather strands 2-3 more times. Thread the hex nut through the strands and tie a second knot. Trim with scissors and your wrap bracelet is finished!!
How to Make Girls' Hair Wraps" Hair wrapping is a really fun thing girls can do when they get together. Hip Hopping Hair Wrapping is a girls' hair wrap project perfect for slumber parties. Girls can choose their favorite colors and express their style in five easy steps with this wearable craft. What You'll Need: 1 yard of each color of floss you want to use (we used 2 colors) How to Make Hip Hopping Hair Wrapping: Step 1: Take a small section of hair (about the width of a penny) from behind the ear along the hairline. Step 2: Split the colors apart. Step 3: Circle the other long end of floss around behind the strand. Step 4: Continue with one color until you are ready to switch colors. Step 5: Continue to wrap, loop, and tighten knots. Option: To add a bead, be sure the bead has a large enough hole to slide onto the hair strand. PIN IT UP, GIRL Our email box is literally flooded with requests for updos so here’s a fun one to get us all going! This is always a favorite for attending an event. This updo looks gorgeous on any hair color but particularly amazing with hilighted hair because it gives the hair lots of depth and dimension. For lack of a better word, I love the way it becomes “swirly”. Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night. I made this a printable tutorial, so all of the steps are next to the photos. Tools you’ll need: curling iron (to prep the hair with waves), sectioning clips, teasing comb or brush, clear elastic rubber band, bobby pins, light to medium holding hairspray (to mist over at the end). Update On The 'S' French Braid Updo: Step By Step How-to I am flattered that the response is so great on the French Braid Updo. Here is a series of steps in photos that hopefully sheds some light on how to do it. Brush your hair. *For curly hair, don't brush it, just run your fingers through your hair. Start slight off centre of your crown. Braid slightly diagonally towards your ear. Curve back from your ear and braid in the same manner to the other side. Keep braiding as per above back and forth until you run out of hair. Et Voila. Helps?? Let me know if this a) helps or b) confuses more. Even though I've been a hairstylist for 20 years, I swear you can do this if you can master a French braid. TIP: Next time you see your hairstylist, ask her to watch how you French braid and correct any mistakes you may have. I know, this just may be the Rubik's Cube of hairstyling.
A bit of green :: Crafts :: Plastic Cup Lamp Now that my university is closed for winter holidays, I finally have more free time to do all the crafty things I’ve been wanting to. One of these is a lamp made from plastic cups I’ve seen at taf, the art foundation, in the Monastiraki region in the center of Athens. When I first saw it at taf, I was amazed; I looked closely and I couldn’t believe my eyes! Disclaimer: There have been some concerns about the safety of this construction (see the comment of user “when” below for example). I only needed a couple of things: 200-250 large plastic cups (recyclable, at least )600-700 staplesa staplera lamp socket, lamp cord and plug – mine came from a broken IKEA lamp! That’s all you will need. Start stapling the cups together as shown. Staple again and again and again… Until your lamp goes from this… …to this! Staple carefully the last cups to form the top of the sphere (if it’s a sphere, because it’s likely that it won’t be that round if some cups aren’t perfectly aligned). You might also like:
Braided Headband Tutorial It's chilly outside here today and I'm loving it! I enjoyed every minute of reaching into the closet and pulling out soft cozy blankets, snuggling up on the couch with my blanket and laptop to check my e-mail this morning... Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of temps below 40 degrees, but a high of 65, I'll take it! Anyway.... on with the tutorial. Here is what we are making today! What you need- Thick hair tie Six 1" strips of fabric Bulldog clip or safety pin Sewing machine (or needle and thread) Fabric tac I ripped my fabric strips so they were a bit frayed on the edges, personal choice. Tack each end of the braid just enough that it doesn't come undone . Then tack both braids together on each end, be careful not to twist the braids. Cut your hair tie so it's one strip of elastic. Sandwich your elastic ends between the ends of your braids on each end, again, careful not to twist the braids. Sew over the elastic so that it's secure. Your done! Enjoy!

...love Maegan: * Partial French Braid &Cascading Hair Tutorial *also known as the "Waterfall Braid" Fashion+Home+Lifestyle Blog I’m not the originator of this hair style but I’ve gotten so many requests for it, I thought I’d give it a go for you. I don’t know what it’s called either so I haven’t researched it and/or found any other tutorials for it …thus, this is my version of it, and I’ve dubbed it the Partial French Braid w/ Cascading Hair. The photos I’ve seen online show the braid a little more straight across the back of the head and mine sort of braids at an angle, similar to my side/low french braid up-do. I’m sure this is 100% easier to do on someone else’s hair than your own but it goes pretty quickly once you get the hang of it …I mean, it’s my shortest hair video tutorial to date. That’s gotta mean something, right Enjoy. Note: Apologies in advance for the yelling of “NOOOO” towards the end, where I momentarily fear I’m going to lose my entire braid and have to start over.
