Je ne sais pas qui a eu l’idée du titre français, mais force est de constater qu’il est très mauvais. Traduire The Shallows (qui signifie les bas-fonds, alors que shallow en tant qu’adjectif veut dire ce qui est superficiel) par Internet rend-il bête ? n’est pas rendre service à ce passionnant essai de Nicholas Carr. Eventuellement pourrait-on faire le rapprochement entre le titre français et l’article, écrit en 2008 pour The Atlantic Monthly intitulé Is Google Making Us Stupid ?
