How to Tie Climbing Knots
Climbing Knots Welcome to Climbing Knots These animated knots are for climbers, rescue workers, arborists, tower-climbers, and others who use rope in man-carrying applications. Select the knots from: the index above left; the pictures above; or the Climbing Usage page. Selection This selection is based on consultation with, and feedback from, many experienced climbers. Omissions The Overhand Knot and the Figure 8 Knot, which both underlie other Climbing Knots, are included in the Basics Section. Deaths Climbing, caving, etc., are challenging and dangerous. Climbing Ropes A climbing rope is typically about 60 meters, or 200 feet, long. Static ropes are more durable, more resistant to abrasion, and lack elasticity. Links Modern Alternatives Descent devices such as Brake Bar Racks and "8" rings are kinder to the Static rope and easier to manage than a Munter Hitch.

What they don’t tell you is that the “smart” people of the world are, in most cases, just better at researching and learning things than everyone else. But researching is a learned skill, not something you’re born with. And while some people might be predisposed to learn things more easily than others, it’s generally not enough to make a measurable difference. By learning how to research, you can quickly and fairly easily become knowledgeable about just about anything. It’s all there, online, for free. Start with Wikipedia Whenever you try to learn something new on the Internet, start with Wikipedia. The main reason to start with Wikipedia is that it gives a good overview of most topics. Sure, any given page is bound to have some inaccuracies (as is the case on most user-generated websites), but most of the content is generally reliable. Bundle Wrapping, Illustrated I travel light; as light, that is, as a man can travel who will still carry his body around because of its sentimental value. How To Pack It Although perhaps somewhat more relevant to business than vacation travel, most of us do not want to spend our days looking like an untidy mess. Thus a natural concern is how to arrive at our destination(s) with our packed clothing in a fairly pristine state, with unwrinkled garments that have creases only where we want them. Folds, Creases, & Wrinkles Some of this will be determined by the clothing fabrics themselves: natural materials acquire and retain creases much more readily than synthetic ones. Creases result from applying pressure to folds. Wrinkles are essentially tiny folds that most often result from garments moving against each other and adjoining surfaces. But What About … ? Over the years, many (mostly ineffective) approaches have been promoted to reduce the problem of wrinkles and creases … Bundle Wrapping Begin … Continue … Finish …

75 Truths I've Learned About Life  75 Truths I’ve Learned About Life In somewhat of a deviation from the norm, we thought it’d be fun to talk about some “universal truths.” “All truth is eternal. Truth is nobody’s property; no race, no individual can lay any exclusive claim to it.
