King Arthur Flour – Baking Banter - StumbleUpon
Love brownies. Love their shiny, flaky top that shatters into micro-thin shards that shower onto your fingers as you eat. Love their dark, gooey center. Their “chocolate nirvana” flavor. Sometimes can’t deal with the bake, wait to cool, cutting into squares messiness and fuss of brownies. Want something I can enjoy within 5 minutes of its exit from the oven.
Fake-Out Mac 'n Cheese
have been tumbling out of my kitchen the past few days. I've been seduced, yet again, by those fluffy golden curls of pasta. I've already posted quite a few vegan Mac/Cheez recipes, but this time I was craving a classic bowl. I wanted to put that "blue box" Mac to shame. So this is my fake-out version of what vegans like me may remember to look, feel, taste and sound like. Sounds Like Mac.
Perfect Buttercream
You know the scene – you’re at a party, and it’s time for the cake to be served. The cake sure looks beautiful, but the frosting … well, you never can tell with frosting. On the cake it all kind of looks the same. The flavor is a mystery.
Life can be cruel…..
So it is cruel irony that I made this cake and don’t get to eat it(dreaded diet). Fortunately this is something my husband will gladly eat. But enough about my sorrows. One of my favorite chefs of all time is Marcel Desaulniers. He is most known for his one cookbook, Death By Chocolate.
Green Tea Chocolate Balls
It's a simple recipe to make green tea flavored chocolate balls, using white chocolate. The sweetness of white chocolate is well-balanced by the bitterness of green tea powder. Yield: Makes 12 balls Ingredients: 1/2 lb white chocolate, finely chopped2 tsp Matcha (green tea powder)1 Tbsp milk 1/4 cup heavy creammatcha green tea powder for coating Preparation:
15 Minute Creamy Avocado Pasta
Oh…my….gosh. Alert the grocery store because there is going to be an avocado shortage in my town. Well, more than usual that is. [And yes, I said ‘store’. As in singular…We’re small town folk.] You can whip up this pasta dish in under 15 minutes flat!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
I’ve already posted about my one of my newfound favorite chocolate chips cookies. The recipe calls for butter – very common in cookies. Well, I have another all-time favorite cookie recipe and this one uses shortening. I know some of you are cringing. Shortening is kind of on the outs with trendy cookie-baking these days, and I understand why – many of the cookies I eat using shortening don’t have a lot of flavor and taste.
Peanut Butter Balls
December 16th, 2010 If you’re looking for a healthy holiday treat, look elsewhere! Peanut butter balls (aka buckeyes) are easily my favorite Christmastime dessert. My Mom and I get together to make them around the holidays, and it’s a good thing we only make them once a year. If I had access to these goodies year-round I would be quite plump!
Teabags! Perfect cookie for a Tea Party!
For my boss's birthday I made these shortbread tea bags... I was inspired when I saw some wooden tea bags as part of a kid's play food set - I thought hmmm one day I could do shortbread dipped in chocolate! I made little tags with cupcakes and used embroidery thread. I used a round icing tip to punch a little hole in each one before I baked so that I could thread it later. ps... shortbread recipe from: Source
a Latte' with Ott, A: crock pOTT recipe: Egg Brunch Casserole
When I found this recipe I was so amazed and excited at the same time. Why hadn't I ever thought of this before??? A recipe for a breakfast casserole that you put in your crock pot.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
I’ve never liked chocolate chip cookies. Go ahead and throw tomatoes at me if you’d like, but I don’t like ’em. They’re just a plain old cookie, after all, with a few studs of chocolate chips in them. They’re nothing special to me, unless you get some cookie dough-action before it meets its fate in the oven.
Perfect Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies . Kitchen Explorers . PBS Parents
I’m a big fan of no-fuss baking, especially when it comes to cookies. This particular cookie I’m sharing with you today is truly remarkable because it uses only four ingredients and also happens to be gluten-free. And chances are good you have all these ingredients you need in your kitchen now: peanut butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla.
Green Tomato Chocolate Cake
If you don’t have a garden, this post may send you running to a neighbor’s just to snatch a few green tomatoes. Green tomatoes in chocolate cake? Yes, quite odd I know, but no less strange than the beer that’s also part of the recipe. You won’t taste the flavor from either, but you will get a moist cake with a light, spongy texture that’s perfect for layering or for cupcakes. You can bake this recipe in a large 9 x 13-inch pan, or in 8-inch cake pans, or as cupcakes, or a combination of them. I baked it in two 8-inch square pans, and had enough batter left over to make 10 cupcakes.
