Olympus' highest peak, Mytikas Every year thousands of people visit Olympus to admire its nature, to tour its slopes, and reach its peaks. Organized mountain refuges and various mountaineering and climbing routes are available to visitors, who want to explore its nature. The usual starting point for it is the town of Litochoro, on the eastern foothills of the mountain, 100 km from Thessaloniki, where, in the beginning of every summer, the Mountain Olympus Marathon terminates.
Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Pie (Treats For Co-Irkers)
Due to other family commitments on Thanksgiving day, we're having our Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday. My kids (and their dogs) will be here to celebrate and give thanks for our many blessings, hopefully an Ohio State win over that team from up north being included on that list. GO BUCKS! While I would have preferred to bake the more traditional pumpkin pie for our holiday dinner, several of the kids don't care for pumpkin (I know, it's crazy isn't it!) So this year I made this peanut butter cream cheese pie. Actually, I made three of them and sent some with hubby to share with the co-irkers, because we're also very thankful that he has such a great job and wonderful people to work with.
Killer Peanut Butter Mousse Brownie Pie
I can think of worse ways to die... We’re eating a chilled “pie” made of layers of fudgy coffee brownies, rich airy peanut butter mousse, crumbled Reese’s peanut butter cups and finished with a drizzle of ganache. It’s a well-known fact that sweets are not really my cuppa beer.
Fun Summer Dessert: Watermelon Pie
One of my summertime childhood memories is eating the yummy watermelon sherbet dessert at Friendly’s restaurant. I loved it, so I decided to try to replicate this dessert for my own kids’ summertime memories! I made some “watermelon pie” for our 4th of July feast this year…to great success! My 4-year-old daughter loved it – like mother, like daughter!
Apple Pie with Brown Sugar Streusel Topping
I was talking with my brother about what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday (which was a while ago now), and he came to the conclusion that he wanted pie. An apple pie. I've never made an apple pie before but of course I was up for the challenge, and a bit worried that my apple pie would not be awesome. Actually for the 2 days before I made the pie, I kept trying to lower his expectations of it so he would be happy with it no matter what. But as I smelled it baking, I broke and said okay that smells really amazing. And it was.
Thin Crust Pizza
Successfully making thin crust pizza at home is not an easy task. When I have tried before I end up with a crust that over cooked and cracker like, or one that is limp and under cooked. That is why I was so happy to see that Cook’s Illustrated had done some testing and made some discoveries. Their big finding was that it is better to use all-purpose flour than bread flour or other high protein flours. The bread flour retains less water than lower protein all-purpose.
Strawberry Basil Lemonade
This Strawberry Basil Lemonade is coming to ya from the archives but I’ve given it a bit of a face lift. Strawberry Basil Lemonade was basically the first drink recipe I ever post on WGC and it’s been my most requested drink ever since. It’s a refreshing blend of homemade lemonade that gets fresh strawberries and basil pureed into the mixture. Depending on who’s enjoying this with me, I’ll add a glug or two of gin or just leave it “virgin” and enjoy it over some ice. Either way, it’s the best drink out there and you should probably be drinking this come Monday by the pool working on your tan. At least that’s what I’ll be doing poolside, in Tucson, with my besties.

Apple Pie Egg Rolls I saw one of the Food Network stars making apple chimichangas and thought I had to have some for myself. I bought flour tortillas and apples, and then I used the flour tortillas for tacos. Still wanting some kind of fried apple pie dessert I used the egg roll wrappers I had in place of the flour tortillas.
