presents: Awesome Mysteries Youve Never Heard Of Green Children In the 12th century near Suffolk, England local farmers made a remarkable discovery: a boy and a girl weeping in a field... both with green skin. The children spoke no English and refused to eat food. They both wore oddly-colored clothing that appeared to be metallic. Eventually they began to eat beans exclusivly after going without food for several days, but only after they were shown how to open the stalks. The boy grew weak shortly after and eventually died. When asked about her origins, the girl described a place with no sun where all the inhabitants were of green color. As if this were not strange enough, the same thing happened again almost 700 years later in 1887 in Banjos, Spain. As with the first account from England, both children refused to eat at first. The children's true origins were never discovered. In any case, it's widely accepted that the children did exist... the question is, where did they come from?
Sixteen Things Calvin and Hobbes Said Better Than Anyone Else To paraphrase E.B. White, the perfect sentence is one from which nothing can be added or removed. Every word plays its part. In my more giddy moments I think that a simple comic strip featuring Calvin, a preternaturally bright six year-old, and Hobbes, his imaginary tiger friend, features some of the most lucid sentences committed to print. And when I sober up, I usually think exactly the same. Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes ran between 1985 and 1995. So here, in no particular order, is a selection of quotes that nail everything from the meaning of life to special underwear. (NOTE: Check out Part II: Sixteen MORE Things Calvin and Hobbes Said Better Than Anyone Else) On life’s constant little limitations Calvin: You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don’t help. On expectations Calvin: Everybody seeks happiness! On why we are scared of the dark Calvin: I think night time is dark so you can imagine your fears with less distraction. On the tragedy of hipsters

Free Classic AudioBooks. Digital narration for the 21st Century More Lessons From Marilyn Top 10 Best Novels of the Last 20 Years Books The ten novels on this list all substantiate the belief that books are the most elastic, introspective, human and entertaining form of media that exist. Not movies, not music, not art, not the theatre. A famous author once said that novels are the best way for two human beings to connect with each other. I believe this, and I believe that people who do not find pleasure in words have never had the opportunity to read one of the great novels. Music for Torching by A.M. First Sentence: ”It is after midnight on one of those Friday nights when the guests have all gone home and the host and hostess are left in their drunkenness to try and put things right again.” As the only woman on the list, A. Homes makes this common enough theme of suburban ennui feel real with her shining prose, a secondary cast of interesting plots and characters, and lack of a fairy-tale ending. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (1996) Of course, Palahniuk had to be on this list. House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski (2000)
