Bernie’s Better Beginner’s Guide to Photography for Computer Geeks Who Want to be Digital Artists | Bernie Sumption :: Photography Illustrated with photos wot I 'ave taken This is a beginner's guide for computer geeks who want to be digital artists. Specifically: Roll over a section of the diagram. You are a beginner: you have little experience with photography beyond point-and-shoot cameras and mobile phones. You want to be a digital artist: you intend to make a small number of photos or illustrations that are as close to perfection as you can get them. If you want to take large numbers of shots to document weddings or sports events for example, then you won't want to edit them all on a computer afterwards so you have to get everything perfect when you take the shot, just like in ye olden days of film photography. On the other hand if you don't care about making each shot perfect then save yourself a lot of money and buy a point-and-shoot camera. You have a computer and know how to use it. Aprendiendo a fotografiar Acabamos de sacar de la caja nuestra nueva réflex y no vamos a tardar mucho en encenderla para empezar a disparar pero antes de hacerlo vamos a poner los pies en el suelo y pararnos a pensar que fotografiar no es una empresa sencilla, que requiere de práctica y técnica el conseguir imágenes que no nos resulten frustrantes. El aprendizaje no acaba nunca, independientemente del campo o la materia de la que estemos hablando y la fotografía no iba a ser una excepción. Quizá incluso tengamos una ventaja con respecto a otros ámbitos pues hoy en día podemos practicar y empezar a acumular experiencia y conocimiento cuando queramos. Leer libros y revistas fotográficas es fundamental y una manera muy rápida y amena de aprender fotografía a la vez que sirven como fuente de inspiración y van formando nuestra "visión fotográfica" de cara al futuro, sin duda. Back to Basics: Film Speed Getting blurry shots when you shoot inside? Night shots all browny looking or washed out? Got no detail in clouds or snow or on beaches? Although a very nice photo, this 100 speed film (even on a nicely sunny day) wasn’t fast enough to capture the action without shake and blur, a 200 or 400 would have been better. I won’t name names, and it’s not the first time I’ve seen this, but I saw a very nicely composed photo of a pet on the site today that the author had commented underneath “still getting blurry shots…”. There are many things that can cause this sort of problem, but if you focussed properly, it boils down to one thing. Please activate JavaScript to see this gallery This was an overcast day, by no means rainy or dark but the use of a 400 speed film mean the film was fast enough to get a ‘tack sharp’ picture. Choose the right film for the job. Here a personal favourite, Lomography CN800, was used. All film is rated for something called speed. But let’s get this bit right first.

I’ve spent several days searching all over the Internet to find the very best 21 up-and-coming photography websites. Each of the sites on this list are well deserving of a good read. Here, I will use “up-and-coming” to mean websites that are not yet household names (such as Digital Photography School, Strobist, or Scott Kelby’s Blog) even if the sites are already somewhat popular. CurrentPhotographer.com – This site has a tremendous amount of quality content. EPhotoZine.com – This site has great information, especially for beginning and intermediate photographers. Photography.ca – I absolutely love this podcast by Marko Kulik up in Canada (eh?). PhotographyTalk.com – This is a large site with an active community behind it. PhotoNaturalist.com – This site is focused on outdoor photography of nature: wildlife, landscape, and macro.
