The Diaspora Project Time & Route | Berlin Two Shanghai Period of time We currently plan riding from early April to early October 2012. Depending on the planning progress, we might take off by mid-March already. We’ll keep this blog to date. Planted Route Our currently planned route will lead us through Poland,Belarus,Russia,Kazakhstan,Kyrgyzstan,Tibet (China),and China. You can have a look here. Of course, the route can change depending on political circumstances at any time, particularly because of the immigration regulations in China/Tibet and Kyrgyzstan. Why this route? Generally, there are three possible routes from Berlin to Shanghai, which are essentially based on the decision of crossing or going around the Himalaya. Northern BypassCrossingSouthern Bypass The northern route runs through most of Russia and Mongolia. The southern route never really was an option because it would mean going through Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan to India which politically seams quite difficult.
