Studenti indisciplinati mandati a zappare dal preside
Fa senza dubbio scalpore la notizia del preside di Milano, Domenico Balbi, dirigente scolastico dell'Itsos Albe Steiner, che manda gli studenti indisciplinati a zappare. Non è uno scherzo, ma un metodo educativo preciso: "Le sospensioni, e le multe, in questo istituto equivalgono all'andare a zappare". E pare anche avere grande gradimento e apprezzamento il metodo del preside Balbi, che ha portato in breve tempo a far comprendere gli errori, il senso del lavoro, e ad abbellire gli spazi verdi intorno al complesso scolastico, prima in stato di abbandono o invasi da macerie. Così, studenti e preside lavorando assieme hanno messo su nell'ettaro di terreno sul retro della scuola, un orto con pomodori e zucchine, mentre nei giardini interni ci sono coltivazioni di camelie, rose, ortensie e agrumi.

A quel punto i pilastri che sorreggono la Terra si sfalderanno, l’intero mondo collasserà su se stesso e tutto ciò che esiste sarà ingoiato da un abisso eterno. Un po’ come avviene nell’universo di Matrix, dove, alla fine del secondo film della saga ideata dalle sorelle (al tempo fratelli) Wachowski, si scopre che Zion, la città degli umani resistenti, è stata in realtà già distrutta e ricostruita cinque volte, poiché la sua esistenza fa parte del funzionamento della “matrice” e ha lo scopo di dare agli umani, a quegli umani del tutto refrattari al sistema di controllo, un’ideale possibilità di riscatto e libertà. Su tutte il film «Melancholia» di Lars von Trier e il romanzo di Cormac McCarthy «La strada». I miti, dunque, per quanto immateriali hanno effetti concreti sulla nostra esistenza.

È una specie di aneddoto-tipo che mi hanno raccontato tutti coloro che, dopo essersi laureati, hanno pensato di continuare a studiare, a fare ricerca, di lavorare all’università. Hanno fatto un dottorato e a un certo punto si trovano di fronte la possibilità di fare un post-doc, immaginano di fare i cultori della materia, di tentare il concorso da ricercatore ecc. La scena si svolge nella stanza del loro professore di riferimento, quello con cui stanno studiando da dieci anni (che sia fisica dei materiali, glottologia semitica o merceologia applicata), il docente con cui, giocoforza, sono diventati familiari.

The Porongurup mountain range is one of the oldest in the world. From its peaks, the Stirling Ranges can be seen. The mountains lie on the land of the Menang people, spanning across the Great Southern region. Dreamtime stories about the mountains differ from generation to generation, but the message remains the same: the ranges have been interlaced from the very beginning. Menang elder Vern Gillies shared the story passed down to her, of how the mountain ranges came into being. "It's a story of anger, vengeance and grief," she begins. "The Borrongup (the Porongurups) was regarded as a sacred but dangerous place, the home of the totem spirits. Hunting was forbidden in the area. What and Watami were members of the Bronzewing Pigeon people, who lived to the west of the Porongurups. One day What, the woman, went out into the bush to find food. Every so often, she called out to her husband to tell him what she was looking for, and what she was finding. "It's quite a sad story," finishes Vern.
