Despicable Minion
Minion army anyone? I just had to. I've not seen the movie yet, but the little guys are just so charming. This is only one of them of course, but at the end of the pattern, are some suggestions for making all different personalities of minions to create your very own Minion Army. LOL As always, if you have any questions or find a problem with the pattern, just post here or email me, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! Minion Materials: WW yarn in yellow, blue and small amounts of black, white and gray G Hook Fiberfill Small amounts of felt in black and medium/light blue Yarn Needle Sewing needle and matching sewing threads Gauge isn't terribly important to this project as long as your hook, yarn and individual tension result in a stitch that's tight enough that the stuffing won't come through. Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round or row indicate the total number of stitches in that round or row. Rnd 1: 7 sc in magic ring (7) Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (14) Begin stuffing at this point.
Surface crochet : : A crochet tutorial
As I was writing up my pattern for the spiral baby blanket, I was going to link to a tutorial on surface crochet, but I couldnt seem to find one which would be comprehensive enough, so I just thought I might as well make a quick one up. Surface crochet is a great way to embellish both crocheted items and knitted items, it's quick and easy and you can make up the patterns as you go along. If you know how to crochet already, then this will be a walk in the park for you to learn. Firstly you'll need a practice swatch and a contrasting colour to practice with.... and of course, a crochet hook. Here's my practice piece.... it doesn't have to be very big.... Hold your contrasting yarn behind your work so that your crochet hook can access it, I hold mine like this, but you can hold it any way you feel comfortable.... Now, pass the hook through the front of your work where you want the design to begin like this..... And do the same, hook the yarn through the work and you should have this.....

This is a similar in concept, meaning three-dimensional of look, to the snow queen. It's not the same, but it's pretty cool anyway. It is in Portuguese, but I thought it was neat enough for you to see. If you know how to crochet the visuals should be enough for you to understand how to do this. I might have these in the wrong order; each one is roughly 10 mins., some are much shorter. There are some patterns on Ravelry that incorporate this technique if you like it. part 1 explaining first row part 2 explaining second row part 3 explaining 1st round of decreases part 4: cutting and attaching thread to side to make front section of dress while making the back section open part 5: filling decreases on back and showing back opening part 6 continuing decreases part 7 (haven't a clue what she was showing here) I think she is saying to go straight up sides till you get to under arm. part 8 after having traveled straight up the side with out decreasing.

WALL-E and Eve-- Now with patterns!
Just in time for Valentine's Day, a little bit of robot love! WALL-E and Eve are crocheted from wool and acrylic yarn and stuffed with lentils and fiber fill. I even snuck little magnets into their arms so they'll hold hands on their own I'm not very good at embroidery yet, but just picked up an adorable book to help me improve. They are both my own concocted patterns, so if anyone feels inclined to try them, just let me know and I'll type up what I did. [EDIT] It sounds like a few of you want to give this a go, so I put off some homework (darn) and typed out patterns. Through Any Window Baby Blanket Tutorial « A Whole Load of Craft
This tutorial will walk you through round six of the Through Any Window Baby Blanket pattern. All six rounds apply to the original version. If you are crocheting the alternate version this tutorial will help you through Round 4: Step Four. For beginning pattern readers, the first two rounds are spelled out with limited abbreviations. Yarn used in this tutorial: Red Heart Super Saver in Cashmere, Country Rose and Cream. Leftie? Right-handed instructions Round 1: Step One To start, with color A, ch 3, join with a slip stitch to form a ring. Chain 3, *half double crochet in ring, chain 1, repeat from * 6 times more, change to Main Color when joining round with a slip stitch to second chain. Round 2: Step One Slip stitch in to chain-1 space. Round 2: Step Two Round 2: Step Three Join round with a slip stitch to top of chain 2. Round 3: Step One Change to B when sl stitching in next st. Round 3: Step Two Sl st into ch-1 sp. Round 3: Step Three Round 3: Step Four Join rnd with a sl st to top of ch 2.
Crochet Flower
I have a few people ask for the crochet flower that I used with my headband. It is a very easy crochet flower I whipped together very quickly. Doing the multiple DC in the same ch 1 creates your standard shell stitch. Flower I used a sz J hook Chain: 17 Row 1: DC in 5th ch from hook *ch 1, skip next ch, in next ch following skipped ch DC, ch, DC* Repeat till end of row Row 2: Ch 3, turn. Leave a long tail at the end in order to have enough yarn to attach the flower properly. If you click on the header it will take you to the google docs page where you can easily print!
