I love this print by artist Jenn Ski. paper products at Michael's. A few weeks ago I got a Cricut Expression (if you aren't familiar with Cricuts, they look like a printer, but they cut lines instead of printing them) from another crafter, and I found out about a software called Sure Cuts-a-Lot, which allows you to cut any shape you want using the Cricut. I have been on a cut-out-paper project kick for a few months anyway, and the Cricut reduces production time (read: tracing and cutting) from hours to minutes. But don't worry if you don't have a Cricut. creative little daisy: Have you priced vintage blue canning jars lately?... I bought these probably five years ago at an antique/consignment store. I think I paid about 12 dollars for a set of four. Now you can expect to pay at least that for just one. Last night I was cruising around the internet and happened upon a link to a tutorial using mod podge and food coloring to make your own. Cool! This afternoon I decided to play around with some mod-podge and food coloring myself. Just pour some mod podge into one of your jars. Add a few drops of water to thin down just a bit. You want to get as much of the mod podge mixture out of the jar as possible so you don't have a big glob of dried gunk in the bottom of your lovely jar. This is how it will look wet. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere about heat setting paint on glassware by baking it at a low temp, so I set my oven on the lowest setting it would allow, 150 degrees and popped them in. I took this after they had cooked for about 20 minutes. And for the finished product, drum roll please..... Not too shabby, eh?

Clothespin Planter | Family Chic TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2011 | Comments: 42 Children love crafts that are simple, turn out well and can serve as a suitable gift for Mom – this craft is all of that. To make this you will need: a tuna fish can (I used a 5 ounce size), clothespins, construction paper and a small plant or flower arrangement. Clip clothespins all the way around the rim of the can. Place your plant inside – I used wheat grass that I grew myself in a wax paper cup. Cut hearts from construction paper and tuck in between clothespins. These would also be great as a simple Spring centerpiece. You can also drop a glass votive and tea light inside and use these as an interesting candle holder too. Made By Rae: Toys on the GO! At 17” wide and 10” deep, it’s large enough to serve as floor seating or a foot stool. (And if you have pets, I have a feeling they may want to make this their new favorite spot!) This project is a little challenging to sew, but it’s not too difficult, so if you’re comfortable with the basics of sewing, give it a try. I love the idea of making a set of these poufs in a range of sizes, for a sculptural stack of cushions that will become a room element in their own right. Striped Cotton Cowl Spring is here on our calendars, but it sure doesn't feel like it here in New York! Everyone is still walking around bundled up in... you guessed it, cowls! They were the word on the street this winter when we brought you the Big Herringbone Cowl, and as we move into spring, cowls are here to stay, now in cool cottons and spring colors. It's really no wonder we love the cowl: no questions of wrapping or tying, no loose ends dragging through mud puddles and no getting caught in subway doors! And so for spring, I decided to make a cuddly soft cotton cowl because April is no picnic!
