Syrian Journey: Choose your own escape route - BBC News
The Syrian conflict has torn the country apart, leaving thousands dead and driving millions to flee their homes. Many seek refuge in neighbouring countries but others pay traffickers to take them to Europe - risking death, capture and deportation. If you were fleeing Syria for Europe, what choices would you make for you and your family? Take our journey to understand the real dilemmas the refugees face. The routes, options and outcomes in this Syrian Journey feature were based on real stories uncovered by extensive research as part of a BBC Arabic digital project exploring migration from Syria. Lektion nr 3 och 4: Speed Dating Speed Dating Under Speed datingen samlade vi alla elever i ett och samma klassrum. Speed dating tar sin tid och det måste få ta tid. Lektion nr 5: Instruktionerna till temat: The Wedding Idag gifter de sig! Klassrummet var arrangerat som en kyrka. Lektion 6,7,8,9 Grupperna arbetar med att skapa texter, göra sina presentationer och förbereda sig för sina muntliga presentationer.

Ett frö planterades och så småningom började det växa fram en tanke om att även jag ville göra något kring detta. Sagt och gjort - för någon månad sedan drog jag igång. Jag valde att inleda med att se filmen The Help, som handlar om den färgade hemhjälpen under 1950-60-talet. Steg två blev att bekanta oss med Rosa Parks. Efter Rosa Parks förljde Martin Luther King. Givetvis har vi också tittat på det berömda I Have a Dream-talet, läst det tillsammans och tittat på hur det är uppbyggt. Vad skriver eleverna om då? Detta har varit ett riktigt kul projekt att arbeta med, dels för att jag fått lära mig så mycket jag inte visste innan och dels för att eleverna verkar ha uppskattat detsamma.

Alternatives to Free Time at the End of Class My first year of teaching, I would often end my lesson, check for understanding, have students fill out an exit ticket, review the homework assignment, breathe a sigh of relief, glance up at the clock, and develop immediate diarrhea upon realizing that I had a whole 10 minutes of class left. You see, I walk this weird, confusing line of being a teacher who hates giving students “free time” but also hates giving students busy work, so it was really hard for me to figure out what to do on the spot.
