Top 10 Space-Saving Household Projects Whether you live in a tiny apartment or just have too much stuff, there's likely a lot of space you aren't using, like your walls, your ceilings, or the nooks and crannies in your furniture. Here's how to use it most efficiently.P 10. Hang Your Bike on the WallP SExpand If you're in an apartment, you probably don't have a lot of great places to store your bike outside, and it can take up a lot of floor space just sitting around. 9. If you've already exhausted the storage nooks under your bed, the ceiling is ripe with unused space. 8. How to Not Look Like a Tourist in New York City « Intrigue Me This SCREAMS tourist!/flickr.com Sometimes I will be walking around the city and will just see so many Don’ts that tourists Do that it inspired me to write about it. Yes, NYC is full of tourists but it’s not really the best place to look like one. Like any other place there are muggers, but because the city is so over crowded and high populated, the volume of people who prey on tourists is higher than most places. So I just thought I’d take the liberty of compiling a list of things to keep in mind for anyone who lives out of the state/country and is travelling to the Big Apple for the first time. 1. 2.If you are going to ask for directions, go to a nearby store, restaurant, or hotel and ask one of their employees. 3. 4. 1. 2. 3. 4. 1. YI Zip Earphones by Ji Woong Zip Up Tangles Your trouser fly just influenced my friend Ji. Quit smirking, coz his YI earphones concept will take care of a lot of wire-tangle-hassles in the future, if it ever gets to production. Simple thought process and application! If pants can have a zipper to hold in the essentials then why the idea can’t be used on earphones to manage them when not in use! Designer: Ji Woong The Book Surgeon (15 pieces) Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian Dettmer carves one page at a time. Nothing inside the out-of-date encyclopedias, medical journals, illustration books, or dictionaries is relocated or implanted, only removed. Dettmer manipulates the pages and spines to form the shape of his sculptures. "My work is a collaboration with the existing material and its past creators and the completed pieces expose new relationships of the book’s internal elements exactly where they have been since their original conception," he says. "The richness and depth of the book is universally respected yet often undiscovered as the monopoly of the form and relevance of the information fades over time. Dettmer is originally from Chicago, where he studied at Columbia College. Update: Read our exclusive interview with the Book Surgeon here. Brian Dettmer's website

ADOLIE DAY ILLUSTRATIONS New York - El Barrio El Barrio, also known as Spanish Harlem or East Harlem (just don't call it "SpaHa"), is a neighborhood that is alive with history and culture--Puerto Rican, African-American, Mexican, Italian, Dominican and increasingly Asian...it's really one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city. It's not uncommon to find people playing congas on the street or riding tricked-out bicycles with Puerto Rican tunes blasting from their radios. You can feel a real sense of community in the bodegas and on the streets as residents chat up their neighbors and warmly greet one another with "Papi" or "Mami." In the summer locals crowd into Thomas Jefferson Park and the abundant community gardens provide locals with the perfect chill out spots. Exploring this neighborhood is highly recommended. But it's not all pretty. Before the Puerto Rican migration, Italians used to call East Harlem home. RestaurantsPatsy's pizza really is the "original" New York thin-crust pizza.

You may have read my other post on how I came across the Steampunk movement and if you haven't - and to avoid double up - you can find it here. Long story short, I'd never even heard the term up until a couple of weeks ago and then a chance encounter on a tram with a magazine made me realise that I loved the style and needed to make something. So this may well be the first of a few items of this ilk over the coming weeks and months. The other post has a link to all of the build photos and a little more background. This gun is loosely based on a Sterling Sub-Machine Gun and has a little bit of Star Wars thrown in for good measure. The main components that I used are as follows; a telescope, candlestick holders, brass light fittings, valves, threaded rod, a vintage blowtorch, a door knocker, leather, brass tubing and a selection of nuts, bolts and computer parts from my hoarded items.
