Site Map Level 3 of Consciousness You are reading about something that most people don’t even know exists. 1. Sometimes like attracts like and sometimes opposite attracts opposite. When like attracts like, it can end there, like an oxygen molecule made up of two oxygen atoms, or it can continue to attract like, like a Carbon atom. 2. Sometimes a self-replicating thing makes a copy of itself with a mistake in it. The only way for new things to get created is by a complex series of mistakes that turn out to be better after all. 3. 4. 5. 6. Self-replication is the most powerful force in the universe. Sometimes a self-replicating memeplex makes a mistake in copying itself. The only way for a new idea to gain acceptance is by a series of copying mistakes that turn out to be better after all. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. The battle can be influenced in three ways. 12. 13. 10 things science (and Buddhism) says will make you happy I’m a science geek as well as a Buddhist geek, and recently when I was leading a retreat on how to bring more joy into our lives I found myself making a lot of references to an article published in Yes magazine, which touched on ten things that have been shown by science to make us happier. It seemed natural to draw upon the article because so much of the research that was described resonated with Buddhist teachings. So I thought it would be interesting to take the main points of the article and flesh them out with a little Buddhism. 1. And in fact Buddhism has always emphasized the practice of dana, or giving. “And which are the three factors of the donor? 2. This of course is an example of another fundamental Buddhist practice — mindfulness. They sorrow not for what is past, They have no longing for the future, The present is sufficient for them: Hence it is they appear so radiant. 3. Buddhists are advised to avoid “conceit.” 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.

Robert Lanza, M.D. – BIOCENTRISM » Is Death An Illusion? Evidence Suggests Death Isn’t the End After the death of his old friend, Albert Einstein said “Now Besso has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us … know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.” New evidence continues to suggest that Einstein was right – death is an illusion. Our classical way of thinking is based on the belief that the world has an objective observer-independent existence. We believe in death because we’ve been taught we die. Until we recognize the universe in our heads, attempts to understand reality will remain a road to nowhere. Consider the weather ‘outside’: You see a blue sky, but the cells in your brain could be changed so the sky looks green or red. In truth, you can’t see anything through the bone that surrounds your brain. Consider the famous two-slit experiment. Or consider Heisenberg’s famous uncertainty principle. Death doesn’t exist in a timeless, spaceless world. Bizarre? Arcane?
