Twenty-six-year-old artist and educator Meagan Moore of Berkeley, CA uploads artwork (that she also sells on her website) to hitRECord. “I’ve gotten to see my work turn up in fun and unexpected ways,” Moore said. HitRECord founder and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt occasionally chooses projects with a lot of potential, produces them on a larger scale, and splits the profits down the middle with the collaborators. “I'm excited to share my ideas and be inspired by others, and if our results are profitable, so much the better,” Moore said. “10,000 heads are better than one.”

Pour la roadmap 5.X, il a été décidé de faire de XWiki un logiciel plus simple à utiliser (via l'interface utilisateur) et plus rapide du point de vue performance pure, d'où la thématique choisie pour celui-ci : « vitesse et simplicité ». Une composante importante du développement du cycle XWiki 5.x a été d'améliorer l'expérience de recherche. Depuis la version 5.1, la recherche XWiki par défaut est basée sur Apache Solr.
