The art of talking to strangers

The art of talking to strangers
I’ve travelled all over the world, from New York to Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo. I’ve had the privilege of working with brilliant minds. A few years ago I learned French, and mastered the language well enough to speak in horrible slang with a fully authentic accent. I bought my first house not even 72 hours after my first ever house-shopping expedition, and only hours before I was due on a plane to Australia. But the single most exhilarating thing I’ve ever done was to make a habit of talking to strangers. Nothing has changed my world view, and my life, more than taking the risk of saying “Hi” to people I don’t know on a regular basis. How to Become a Social Skydiver I can’t help but geek out on almost everything I do. Figure out what you want. How to Approach People I prefer to keep my conversations fairly organic. What you say isn’t nearly as important as how you say it. That’s okay. What I’ve Learned from Talking to Strangers People don’t bite. One Approach a Day

- StumbleUpon Break Free From Opinions We always have a place in life for a close circle of friends with whom we share every moment of victory, a small and yet exciting discovery and every piece of mind. And some of us expect certain reaction of approval and encouragement from people to keep following the path of self development and growth. Whenever I tripped I always had those who would catch me as I was one foot from the ground about to hit my head because of the decisions I’ve made, things I’ve said and roads I’ve taken. I always expected certain reaction from people around me as if they were my puppets that had to react in the exact way I wanted them to based on the systems of believes that developed in me from the moment I was born. But most of all I was suffering in the process of hitting myself against the wall of someone else’s negative opinions trying to shutter my motivation. There is no such thing as negative feedback. I made an observation. People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness.

However, it is a big mistake to go about life not making the first move and waiting for someone else to do it [in conversation or anything]. This isn’t to say you must always be the first in everything or spark up conversations with everyone you see. The Benefits First thing is you should acknowledge why it is a good thing to be able to initiate conversations with strangers or people who you don’t know well. 1. You can only learn so much alone, and I’m sure you’re aware of the benefits of learning from others. Good Vs Bad All people are good in their own way. This means distinguishing between people who might suit you and your ‘purpose’ from those who probably won’t. It helps to motivate the conversation if you really want to know this person. The Rules I don’t have many rules in this life, for conversation or anything; but when it comes to approaching strangers, there are a few I’d like used. 1. Who To Talk To? 1.

Why You Should Date A Girl Who Reads | Write In Color Girl Reading by Pablo PIcasso “Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve. Find a girl who reads. She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. Buy her another cup of coffee. Let her know what you really think of Murakami. It’s easy to date a girl who reads. She has to give it a shot somehow. Lie to her. Fail her. Why be frightened of everything that you are not? If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. You will propose on a hot air balloon. You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. Or better yet, date a girl who writes. The Pixar Theory: Every Character Lives in the Same Universe Jon Negroni spent one year untangling the secret world hidden deep within Pixar films. This thesis (printed in full below) originally appeared on his personal blog and quickly became a viral sensation. Negroni continues to update his post based on interesting feedback from readers. Several months ago, I watched a fun-filled video on Cracked.com that introduced the idea (at least to me) that all of the Pixar movies actually exist within the same universe. Since then, I’ve obsessed over this concept, working to complete what I call “The Pixar Theory,” a working narrative that ties all of the Pixar movies into one cohesive timeline with a main theme. This theory covers every Pixar production since Toy Story: A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Brave and Monsters University. Every movie is connected and implies major events that influence every single movie. Or does he? Buddy didn’t have any powers.
