Under The Table and Dreaming: Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub {for Mom}

Under The Table and Dreaming: Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub {for Mom}
We all have them {well at least I do}; poor, exhausted, DIY doing, spray painting extraordinaire, crafters hands. I have been using this simple Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub mix for a few years and it is the best recipe to rejuvenate your skin and bring your fingertips back to life. The sugar is an excellent exfoliate to remove the craft leftovers from your nail beds and cuticles too! It takes only minutes to mix and you most likely have all the necessary ingredients sitting right in your pantry. Packaged up just right this makes another inexpensive Mother’s Day gift; a perfect addition to tuck in a little gift basket. Begin my mixing 2 1/2 Cups of Sugar with 1 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This mixture will make enough to fill a 12oz. Mix really well until a gritty paste forms and spoon into a glass container. I have to say I love this mix and use it all the time. {plus not to mention it scrubs away all craft evidence so my hands do not look like a mechanics out in public}Enjoy!

Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies ***Last Friday night, Brad and I got an invite to an impromptu dinner party...What fun! We were both excited, and of course, I immediately started to think about what I could take along for dessert. I was in the mood for cookies, but not the same-ole', same-ole' variety. I wanted to try something new, but using the ingredients that I had on-hand was a necessity. A trip to the grocery store was not in the cards if I wanted to be on time. So, I began browsing through cookbooks and blogs for just-the-right recipe.

{oil cleansing method} ladies… this is the best thing i have ever done for my face. several different friends had told me about it some time ago, so once i finished my face wash {because thats how i do things. i can't bear to throw things away - if you can, i actually envy you...} i gave it a try. & am totally hooked. here is the thing, though.

How To Mix Chalkboard Paint in Any Color We love using chalkboards as backdrops for displays and parties (like this one here!). So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. She recommends that you use latex paint, but we tried it out with acrylic paints with much success. Here's how you too can create your own chalkboard paint...

Under The Table and Dreaming: DIY Faux Curled Rosewood Wreath {Made From Rolled Recycled Book Pages} I have seen various versions of Faux Rosewood Wreaths in just about every store and catalog for the upcoming season; most with a price tag running upwards of $40 or more. Last year I made a few rolled flower gift toppers from recycled book pages and they remind me so much of the curled wood roses I thought they would make a good substitute. {with a much lower price tag} Materials Needed:Foam Wreath FormRecycled Book PagesLots of Hot GlueRibbon to Hang

Scrambled Egg Muffins « Breakfast Happy New Year, dear friends! I wish you health, love, happiness and joy! And I am completely sure that you’ll have it all. Some things I just know. How to make your own deodorant My weekend of celebrating with the folks was excellent. And sure enough, my mom (known to many of you as Grandma G) embarked on a DIY deodorant project. She came across someone selling homemade deodorant nearly a year ago, tried it out, and found that it actually kept stinkiness away better than store brands. Plus most popular brands of deodorant contain aluminum, so if you can avoid stuffing metal into your pores, that seems like a good idea. After using a few types of natural deodorants and figuring out which ingredients she prefers, Mum decided to make her own.

Words as Images by Ji Lee Whenever we read a news story, book, letter, or any other form of text our brain relates specific words with previously seen images. By accessing our past memories, like a hard drive, our brain is able to create a visual illustration simply out of words. Taking this one step further, Ji Lee eliminates the need for our brain to do this process. Ji Lee takes popular words and brings them to life by adding a sense of character, fun and playfulness to them.

Splendor: Make Your Own Pinwheels So, I found these on Kim's blog a while back and bookmarked them waiting for when I had a good reason to make them. Well that time has come my friends. Im having a trunk show for the Splendor Shop this weekend and I want the table set up to be along the lines of whimsical and vintage. Cue the pinwheels. Oh my word are these not just so adorable. They seriously just brighten up any room.

DIY Hand Stitching, part 1 One of my favorite crafts is hand stitching-- it's fun, addictive, expressive and relaxing :) Over the next few weeks, I'm going to share easy ways to make your own patterns for hand stitching along with some tips and ideas :) These are some samples of my past projects-- I like to draw patterns freehand and use my handwriting. However, sometimes I adapt clipart type images to make a more complicated pattern, like the sewing machine or I just stitch the outline of an image I love, like the Goonies "Hey You Guys" silhouette :) I use a Back Stitch for all my hand stitching because it's very versatile and I like the look but you can use any combination of stitches for your projects... there's lots of fun ones! Today, we're going to start with handwriting & transferring your pattern :) You will Need:
