20 appar för åk4-9, öva engelska En fråga som jag ofta stöter på är appar för äldre elever. Det finns många bra pedagogiska appar till yngre elever som också skulle kunna användas till de äldre eleverna om det inte vore för den naiva layouten och hejaropen med småbarnsröster… Superbraaaa!!! För att fånga de äldre eleverna behövs en helt annan layout för att de ska tycka att det är ok, även innehållet måste spegla de äldre elevernas intressen och vardag. Jag har nu dammsugit AppStore och hittat 20 appar som jag tycker skulle kunna fungera för de lite äldre eleverna från åk4-9. Har du fler förslag får du gärna lämna en kommentar under inlägget. Stödmall, analysförmågan och sommaren Idag använde vi för första gången en stödmall med inspiration av Göran Svanelid för att träna analysförmågan när vi bearbetade sommaren som varit. Det gick jättebra!! Barnen fick först tänka själva och skriva ner stödord. Sedan pratade de med en eller två kompisar och skrev ner vad de fick veta. Därefter kom vi till analysen :) Vi pratade tillsammans om vad analysera kunde stå för, ordet jämföra kom upp, orden lika och olika. Jag märkte att fler elever var mer aktiva än de brukar. Imorgon ska vi använda stödmallen igen, men nu om skolans trivselregler. Digitala verktyg – supertips Det går att använda digitala verktyg på ett strukturerat och ändamålsenligt sätt, till exempel för flippar, språkutvecklande arbetssätt och formativ bedömning, som ger goda resultat (Läs om STL-studie här). Men för många är vägen dit fylld av ”digital stress”, det vill säga man har förstått vad verktygen kan tillföra undervisningen, men insatsen att lära sig verktygen är just nu alldeles för stor. Därför blir det oftast ingenting. En sätt att göra berget lite lägre är att introducera enklare digitala verkyg regelbundet, till exempel med ett tips i månaden. Utan inbördes ordning. Skapa ett konto på Youtube (eller använd befintligt Googlekonto) och spara favoritklipp i spellistor som senare kan delas. Klipp från Youtube kan startas vid önskat läge. Ta en bild av tavlan efter en klockren genomgång. Använd elevernas texter i undervisningen. För att lätt hitta till rätt del i dokumentet kan ett index skapas längst upp i dokumentet. Använd ”Tillägg” i webbläsaren.
Film Links Until quite recently it was difficult to find pedagogically sound film material to help students improve their language through watching film, and teachers had to spend many hours creating their own materials. However, with the advent of the Internet there are now a wealth of online resources for both language teachers and their students. With so many resources it’s sometimes difficult for teachers to see the wood for the trees. Here I’m going to recommend the sites and resources that from my own experience I have found most useful and engaging. Lesson plans There are many websites and blogs which provide detailed and well-structured lesson plans designed around film and television clips, short films and viral videos which save the busy teacher a lot of time. 5 essential ice-breakers Teachers may feel awkward speaking in front of a group of new faces who appear to be watching in a quite judgemental manner. Students also feel the nerves during a first class, as they may not have spoken English for a very long time. Their last experience with an English teacher may have been in a strict, grammar-focused classroom environment many years ago. This often creates a series of confidence issues with the student, having not used the language for an extended period and fearing making a mistake. The first class should be to promote a positive learning environment, where usage of the target language, whether right or wrong, will be viewed as being beneficial for the students. Additionally, the first lesson is also a prime opportunity to build a rapport with the students. 1‘? All you need to do is arm them with the confidence to succeed, find out what they expect from the class, while taking a fun and light-hearted approach.
