Taco and Chili Seasoning Mix Debbie Koenig Debbie Koenig / TODAY print recipe When I was growing up, at least once a month my mom made either chili or tacos. She’d stock up on the seasoning packets and ground beef whenever they went on sale, and keep them as a back-pocket, budget-friendly possibility for nights when she couldn’t face cooking a full meal from scratch. And now that I’m a mom myself, I do the same. Those big batches take about five minutes to throw together (you’re just measuring a bunch of spices, then stirring). Make a batch of this seasoning mix today, and you’ll never buy the packets again. Ingredients Preparation To make the seasoning mix: Combine all ingredients; store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. To make chili: Brown the ground meat, and drain any excess fat. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter "Granola" Bars I’m always looking for grain-free snack ideas, and especially like it when I can come up with something that mimics the old snacks I used to eat. These remind me a lot of cliff bars, which used to be a staple breakfast item for me in college! If I only knew back then how much those ingredients affect my body. These granola bars are delicious, grain-free, and full of heart healthy nuts. They’re a great energy booster when you’re hitting that wall in the middle of the day, especially for those of us that are anemic. They’re also full of calories, so be careful! This is a pretty versatile recipe. Linked up this week to Allergy Friendly Lunchbox Love and Allergy Friendly Wednesdays
