Many, including myself, do not beleive in the story concocted by the Europeans and their Church that Sequoyah managed to create a written language for the Cherokee People, from scratch, all by himself, in just 12 years. Even his descendants say the stories are fabrications, and insist that Soquili (aka "Sequoyah" or "Sequoia") was used as a front to create an excuse for a Church whose own standards would have changed their behavior toward the Cheorkee People had they realized that they had a written language long before the European incursion. I have spent years researching and gathering data on the "old script" ... and have finally created some rough versions of a TrutType font.
