Cynthia Rylant Chris Van Allsburg Chris Van Allsburg est né en 1949 à Grand Rapids dans le Michigan, dans une famille de crémiers. Très jeune, il affirme un don certain pour le dessin et commence pourtant des études de droit à l'université du Michigan. On le retrouve aux beaux-arts et il obtient un diplôme de sculpteur de la Rhode Island School of Design. SCULPTEUR DE REVES Chris Van Allsburg peut se vanter d'être, avec Maurice Sendak, le seul dessinateur contemporain à trouver grâce aux yeux sévères du tonitruant Tomi Ungerer : «Hier j'ai acheté « Boréal-Express » à mes enfants, bien qu'ils soient trop âgés, déclarait celui-ci en 1990, parce que la beauté de telles images peut marquer à vie.»

Ces deux ouvrages ont été adaptés au cinéma. Chris Van Allsburg est né en 1949 à Grand Rapids au Michigan, état de la région des grands lacs aux Etats-Unis. « Quand j’étais jeune, je n’avais aucune idée de ce que je voulais être plus tard. Néanmoins étudier l’art lui semble très tôt une idée amusante bien que l’usage est plutôt de développer ces aptitudes physiques dans un sport comme le football. Ne manquant ni de ruse ni d’audace, il ment délibérément au responsable des admissions. La sculpture est la première grande passion de l’artiste.
