UN Commission to Investigate Abuse in Libya | News The United Nations Human Rights Council has appointed three high-level experts to investigate alleged human rights violations during the ongoing political turmoil in Libya. The Council adopted a resolution to launch an international independent investigation during a special session on Libya last month, which also suspended Libya’s membership in the Council. It was the Thai president of the U.N. "I was tasked as president of the Human Rights Council to appoint an independent international Commission of Inquiry to investigate all alleged violations of international human rights law in Libya… I do hope that this commission of inquiry, which has been set up, will benefit from the cooperation of the country concerned," said Sihasak Phuangketkeow. And that is the big question. The experts appointed to examine these allegations are Cherif Bassiouni, Asma Khader and Philippe Kirsch. Khader is a former Jordanian minister of culture and human rights expert.

Cette décision qui tend à la protection des internautes peut être contestée à tout moment devant le juge compétent, y compris en référé.

Ajdabiya, the last major town before the rebel base in Benghazi, came under heavy aerial attack. Rebels say they have retaken Brega, but the government has denied the claim. Earlier, the UN Security Council met to discuss the imposition of a no-fly zone, but there was no consensus. The BBC's Barbara Plett says there were divisions about authorising such a zone, with France calling it a game-changer, but countries such as Russia expressed caution, saying serious questions remained. Meanwhile, a UN envoy, Abdul Ilah Khatib, has met Libyan Foreign Minister Moussa Kusa in Tripoli. In the meeting, Mr Khatib, a former Jordanian foreign minister, reiterated demands for an end to the violence and requested access for humanitarian groups, a UN spokesman said. Dutch providers abandon “ineffective” web blocking The largest Dutch internet providers were in the process of blocking websites on the basis of blacklists provided by the Dutch hotline. Bits of Freedom has always insisted that the blocking of websites with images of sexual child abuse is a counterproductive measure. A letter written by the ISPs and the Dutch hotline indicates that they share the views of Bits of Freedom in this regard, that web-blocking is not an effective measure to fight child abuse images online. The letter was sent to the Dutch Minister of Justice on 10 November 2010, but officially released only in the beginning of March 2011 (i.e. after the publication of the report of the European Parliament which also touched on web blocking). “Dear Sir,On behalf of the Task Force on the Blocking of Child Pornography I would like to report to you on the progress being made with regard to the selfregulation-initiative regarding the blocking of images depicting the sexual abuse of children (“child pornography”).

Arming Libyan rebels an option - Hague LONDON Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:21pm GMT LONDON (Reuters) - International powers should consider arming Libyan rebels and need to take swift action to prevent Muammar Gaddafi's forces from crushing a rebellion, Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Monday. Hague said it would be a nightmare for Libya's people if Gaddafi remained in power and that "a point of decision" was looming for meaningful international intervention. The U.N. Britain and France have been pushing for the imposition of a no-fly zone to shield Libyans from Gaddafi's air power and British officials stressed that remained their priority. "If Gaddafi went on to be able to dominate much of the country, well this would be a long nightmare for the Libyan people and this would be a pariah state for some time to come," Hague told BBC Radio 4. Hague will attend a meeting of G8 foreign ministers in Paris on Monday to examine options for Libya after rebel efforts to end Gaddafi's four-decade rule appeared to falter.

Sur les conseils du parti pirate, avec qui je n’ai aucune affinité (ou antipathie) particulière, j’ai interpellé mon député car je désapprouve ce texte LOPPSI inutile et liberticide , qui ne règle en rien les problèmes de pédophilie et restreint dangereusement nos libertés pour des raisons obscures que seuls les instigateurs (et les lobbyistes) connaissent. Bref, j’ai utilisé un courrier type qui est explicite et je n’ai pas jugé utile de le personnaliser outre mesure : manifestez votre désaccord à votre député . A ma grande surprise, j’ai reçu une réponse “rapide” du député du Rhône… Chouette, je me dis que peut être je vais en savoir plus sur ses motivations, et là, à ma encore plus grande surprise, je trouve deux pages de discours partisan et visiblement recopié à qui mieux mieux, qui ne répond en rien à mes interrogations. Incroyable ! Un citoyen exaspéré.
