This hard-to-describe movie, which combines talking-head documentary footage with a fictional narrative, attempts to explain quantum physics in terms most audiences can understand. How to Get a Complete Workout with Nothing But Your Body How to Wake Up Early After reading last week’s article on problem solving, Tina casually mentioned wanting to wake up early. I felt inspired to write a piece on how to wake up early. For the past 4 months, I’ve been consistently waking up early—5am specifically. 4:45 a.m. arrives and our bedroom becomes a full on symphony of battling alarms: my husband’s starts at 4:45, mine follows at 5:00, his chimes back in again at 5:00 (in unison with mine), and depending on the snooze capacity that day … we may even have one more finale at 5:15 a.m. The coffee grinder is also programmed to go off at 5 a.m. One year ago, this would have been an awful disturbance. I was not a morning person, regardless of how much I tried to be. Today, this has changed. I am humbled and proud to be a recovering night owl with so much joy in waking up early well before sunrise. There is a sense of peace and belonging in waking up before most of the world. How to Wake Up Early: 3 Keys 1. 2. Set a bedtime for yourself. 3. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Lasting Happiness Found With Hallucinogen Use? September 29, 2011 Researchers from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine studying psilocybin, the mind-altering chemical in “magic mushrooms,” found that the chemical may actually alter people´s personalities for a long period of time, ABC News is reporting. The study involved one high dose of psilocybin administered to 51 adult study participants and found that 30 of them underwent measurable personality changes lasting more than a year. Openness, the authors wrote, “encompasses aesthetic appreciation and sensitivity, imagination and fantasy, and broad-minded tolerance of others´ viewpoints and values.” Measured on a widely used and scientifically validated personality inventory, changes in openness were larger in magnitude than changes typically observed in healthy adults over decades of life experiences, the scientists say. Researchers in the field say that after the age of 30, personality doesn´t usually change significantly. On the Net: Source: RedOrbit Staff & Wire Reports
Stranger #77 Revisited | Danny Santos II - Street Photographer in Singapore Stranger #77 was one of the most strikingly beautiful face I’ve photographed in my Portraits of Strangers project. So when I decided to do this “Strangers Revisited” project, she was an obvious choice. And when Atika agreed to do a photo shoot with me, I was so ecstatic yet pretty nervous at the same time. This was her a year ago, when I spotted her walking with her boyfriend in Orchard Road. Her portrait quickly garnered quite a lot of comments and praises when I posted it on Flickr and DeviantArt. Before the shoot, my girlfriend and I went to scout for potential locations. Sure anyone can just go there, randomly wander around and hope to get lucky, but I’d rather come prepared. Meeting Atika on shoot day was quite pleasant. During the photo shoot, I learned some interesting things about her: 1) Her mom’s Javanese and her dad’s Irish – a curiously fascinating combination; 2) She used to train for long distance runs – she got this from her mom who’s also a runner. Overall, I had fun.
Waking Up Early – 15 Tips That Work It has almost been one year since I posted about how to Wake up Early and Consistently. I thought now might be a good time to post a follow up, including what I have personally found to work. Let me first start by saying that waking up early has made a huge difference in my life. What I like most about being an early riser is getting that extra quiet time in the mornings to work at a few next actions even before the day officially begins. Here is a list of things that worked for me: 1. I’ve found this to be the single most important element in being an early riser. 2. It wasn’t enough to just be an early riser. 3. Your body is trying to tell you something if you constantly feel overly tired during the day. 4. One simple thing which helped me get enough sleep was to … well … go to bed earlier. 5. The other thing I noticed about sleep is sleeping longer doesn’t necessarily translate to sleeping better. 6. I think everyone including me has two conflicting aspects to their personality. 7.
10 Ways To Be Happy, On Purpose “He who depends on himself will attain the greatest happiness” ~Chinese Proverb I was at a Women’s Leadership Conference about a year ago and had an “ah-ha moment”. We were all introducing ourselves and asked to share a few things to help with the process. One question left me baffled and ultimately changed my life; “What do you do to make yourself happy?”. At the time I honestly didn’t know. It’s not been an easy road, but it’s been the most fulfilling adventure I’ve ever been on and I feel that I should now share what I’ve learned with others. 1. “Today you are you, that is truer than true. How many times have we heard “no one will love you until you learn to love yourself” or “nobody knows you the way you do”? So get to know the right-now-real you, both the good and the bad, and own it. The good news is that if you don’t like certain aspects of yourself right now, you have it in your control to change that. 2. “Open your eyes and look within. “You have brains in your head. 3. 4. 5. 6.
