Blog » 10 Best Type Foundries of 2013 As Google continues to strive towards world domination, they are dipping their digital fingers into everything, including fonts. The Google Fonts directory is served by other monolithic foundries such as Adobe and Monotype. With the vast majority of fonts coming from the minority of designers (#wearethe99percent), it’s almost too easy for the true heroes of typographical design to go uncelebrated. Here are 10 of our favourite designers through 2013 – check out their fonts and see what real talent can do. Sudtipos Based in Argentina, Sudtipos is a collaborative effort between four design powerhouses, Ale Paul, Ariel Garofalo, Claudio Pousada, and Diego Giaccone. We have 24 font families available, but our favourite Sudtipos font is the wonderful Aladin Pro font; we can’t get enough of the Eastern style oozing from every curve. HVD Fonts Founded in 2008 by the German designer Hannes von Döhren, HVD Fonts has produced an array of superb, award winning fonts. Yellow Design Studio FontFabric

It is used primarily in photography, filmmaking and architecture. It manipulates human visual perception through the use of scaled objects and the correlation between them and the vantage point of the spectator or camera. Paul Emmings / About Dear photography friend, Can I welcome you to my web page. Learning photography is a journey and not a destination . I have been on this journey only for a short time, but have learnt a considerable amount about composition. I have designed this site to try to assist and help everyone new to photography in the art of composing photographs. The camera we use is a very skilled and technical wonder and it is capable of many great things, BUT it can not tell you where to point it and when to press the shutter button. The categories above give visual examples of simple composition; the rule of thirds, lead in lines, foreground interest, framing, symmetry and selective focus. I have also included sections with the title 'WORKING'. This section starts small with the options of photographing a pedal bike and ends with Sydney Opera House over a number of days. Other sections within this site show some of the photographs I have taken of our recent adventures.

But en mass, grains of sand build, slide and settle into beautiful and mysterious patterns we admire, but cannot always understand. Sand has superhero qualities, as far as geological deposits go. Behaving at times like a solid, at times a liquid and at times a gas, it is a master shape-shifter. Formed by wind and water, sand allows large-scale geography to play out in miniature: settling into ripples, channels, canyons, valleys and deltas. Sand is born as tiny pieces break away from rock. For a geologist, sand is any particle of a certain size. The enormous golden dunes of the world are made mostly of silicon dioxide, in the form of quartz. Sand goes into nearly as many materials as it comes from: glass, bricks, concrete, paint and electronics, to name a few. To bring out your inner arenophile, we’ve gathered some of the strangest and most impressive pictures we could find of sand patterns. Above: Image: Martyn Gorman
