Transitvue.com TransitVUE® Transportation Passenger Information System (TPIS) The TransitVUE® Transportation Passenger Information System (TPIS) is fully integrated and composed of a common communication infrastructure and database that provides automated control of critical messaging for light rail, subway, train, bus, airport, port and government applications. The goal of TPIS is to provide passengers and internal staff with up-to-date information, regarding anything from scheduled or real-time arrival and departure information to service alerts. The system utilizes an open architecture and can be managed from a centralized or remote location. Unlike other off-the-shelf passenger information systems, TPIS is designed to be customizable and flexible so that agencies can choose from a multitude of screen sizes and employ a variety of template designs. Could Plastic “Lego” Roads Pave The Way To A Greener Future? Some adults never “grow up,” and it seems that these engineers still have their minds in the toy box. They have designed “road blocks” that are like enormous Lego pieces, able to be snapped in and out of place easily. Even better, they're designed to be made from recycled plastic dredged from the oceans. The road to success is always under construction. The city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands is teaming up with the company VolkerWessels to create prototype plastic roads. Naturally, when designing roadways that would reasonably support hundreds or even thousands of cars a day, structural integrity would be a concern. A design of PlasticRoad. The prefabricated roads would be made in a factory, transported to the installation site and then slotted into place. This project is ambitious and it may be years before we find out if the pre-fabricated plastic is road-worthy and can replace traditional tar and asphalt roads.
