For interpolation, I use the quadratic B-spline presented here: Analysis and Reduction of Quadrature Errors in the Material Point Method. Instead of integrating the density over time (which is what most of the MPM papers do), I do a density summation every frame. Material Parameters Some of these parameters are hard to explain in one or two sentences (and a couple I made up) so I'll also link you to their corresponding Wikipedia pages. Density - Target density for the particles. Stiffness - How compressible the fluid is. Bulk viscosity - Kind of like damping. Gravity - How much the particles will accelerate downwards.

Sketchbook Secrets: 50 Beautiful Sketchbook Scans The sketchbook is—to borrow a term from the new millenniums’ popular discourse—an artist’s BFF. It’s a diary for the visually inclined—a place where artists can most comfortably explore their personal thoughts, work out their visual needs, practice, maintain a visual history, and hopefully create the unpolished work that will eventually lead to amazing work for the world to see. But, sometimes, when we’re lucky, we get to see the process. Reactive Paint Shi Yuan has created a way to turn normally passive things into something with a life of its own. Like this wallpaper that reacts to heat, the painting that react when you touch it, or the daily calendar that fades away during the day. It is made using heat sensitive paint - and it is incredible. Heat Sensitive Wallpaper Turn up the heat and your wallpaper starts to blossom. ...and now on. A painting with feelings Show people how you feel by touching the painting. Rainbow Thread Art (8 pics) Though we can appreciate Gabriel Dawe's beautiful thread art by just looking at these pictures, we're certain that these photos will never quite do them justice. In fact, we can imagine ourselves walking around these rainbow prisms and just getting lost. I asked Dawe to tell us what he hoped others got out of his artwork including what they represent. "Conceptually, these works are about the human need for shelter," he tells us. "Ultimately, what I want to give the viewers is an experience with light and color. "What is very satisfying is that I hear all the time that people go back to see them and stay for half hour, experiencing the piece. Read the rest of our interview with Dawe below. You are formally trained in art with an MFA in arts and technology at the University of Texas at Dallas. Can you tell us about how your art is influenced by your heritage? On average, how long do these amazing installations take you? What are some of your favorite installations and why?
