Sweet and Sexually Charged Photography (20 photos) Originally from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Carlos Nunez is an LA-based photographer whose gorgeous shots can easily range from sweet and demure to downright sexy. You can tell that he has that rare ability to put his models at ease, making them feel free to express themselves and show us a side to them few people ever get to see. Take a look at Nunez's blog and you'll see shots we can't necessarily feature here on My Modern Met (in other words, NSFW). I was able to get in touch with the elusive Nunez to ask him a few questions. Q: Can you give us a little background about how you got started in photography? Q: How would you describe your style? Q: What are some of your secret to getting such sexy shots? Q: Which photographers do you admire? Q: Can you give us some tips for aspiring photographers? Q: Any quotes you live by? No matter how much shit is thrown at you, know that right around the next corner something epic is going to happen. Carlos Nunez

Beautifully Offbeat Photography (13 photos) Samuel Bradley's photos cannot be neatly categorized. Wonderfully offbeat and somewhat quirky, they truly span the spectrum. As he tells us, "I'm battling with two different ways of working and I don't know which one I prefer. I think most people follow my work and blog for the more quirky, interestingly processed and sometimes a bit 'cliché vintage' photographs. He continues, "Then there's the other side of my work that I think I've only really just begun to explore. I asked Bradley to share the story behind the man and the wolf photo we featured a few days ago (see above). "In all honesty I wasn't happy with the project as a whole, but I got three of my strongest and most popular photographs out of it. If you love Samuel's beautifully off-beat photos, you can pick up one of his prints exclusively over at our online art store, My Modern Shop. Observing Generation Gaps How similar are parent and child? German photographer Frauke Theilking's photo project called "Generation" observes the similarities and differences between generations. Each photo pairs a parent and child, either a mother/daughter or father/son combo, side by side. Devoid of an elaborate background, Theilking's photos focus the viewer's attention on the subjects, who themselves aren't wearing any distracting clothing. Looking at the two figures, there are apparent (no pun intended) likenesses and gaps. Frauke Theilking's website via [Good]

Young Artist Takes Surreal Self-Portraits to Express Emotions The mind can create all kinds of strange scenarios when we are asleep. In this series entitled Surreal-ity, photographer Kylie Woon brings those mind-bending stories and dreamy scenes to life. Conveying all kinds of dramatic emotions, including loss, fear, anger, and restlessness, Woon creates self-portraits where she floats, flips, and flies across each frame in seemingly impossible arrangements. The artist says her life has always flip-flopped between being obsessed with the small things in life versus being able to see the bigger, grander picture. She compares her experiences to photography and the idea of being zoomed in and zoomed out. She says, "When I am zoomed in, everything in the universe is dark except for the inside of my head. Much like artist Sebastian Eriksson, Woon's passion for life, her emotional struggles, and her desire to feel all of the happy and sad emotions that come with life are evident in her work. Photographer captures haunting images of sights inside the abandoned asylums of America By Daily Mail Reporter Published: 21:02 GMT, 6 September 2012 | Updated: 21:36 GMT, 8 September 2012 These are the buildings where thousands of long-suffering wards of the state lived out their lives from the 19th century until the next, when the treatment of the mentally ill entered the modern era. Photographer John Gray has bravely ventured to more than a dozen of these forgotten institutions, photographing the deserted hallways, decaying rooms and remnants left behind behind by patients. His book, Abandoned Asylums of New England, chronicles the storied temples of control, treatment and rehabilitation that once populated the region. It will be released in the fall through the Museum of Disability.
