ART-OPOLOGY Virtual museum A virtual museum is a digital entity that draws on the characteristics of a museum, in order to complement, enhance, or augment the museum experience through personalization, interactivity and richness of content. Virtual museums can perform as the digital footprint of a physical museum, or can act independently, while maintaining the authoritative status as bestowed by ICOM in its definition of a museum. In tandem with the ICOM mission of a physical museum, the virtual museum is also committed to public access; to both the knowledge systems imbedded in the collections and the systematic, and coherent organization of their display, as well as to their long-term preservation. As with a traditional museum, a virtual museum can be designed around specific objects (akin to an art museum, natural history museum), or can consist of new exhibitions created from scratch (akin to the exhibitions at science museums). Art Websites There are many art-related web sites out there. This list is by no means comprehensive, but it's a start. If you come across any good ones on your own, or if any of these become out of date, please let me know. If you don't see a link to the particular artist or period you're looking for, check out the Art Research and Resources section below. There are some good general sites in which you can find someone specific. Of particular interest are the following four sites, each of which have a good collection of artists and periods: Carol Gerten's Fine Art (CGFA)/A Virtual Art Museum, Mark Harden's Artchive, WebMuseum, and Orazio Centaro's Art Images on the Web (OCAIW). Happy Hunting! You can use the following Table of Contents to jump to a particular section on this page. If you can't find a museum from my list below, check out The Museum Computer Network, which has links to over a thousand U.S. and international museums.

Jodi (art collective) Jodi, or jodi.org, is a collective of two internet artists: Joan Heemskerk (born 1968 in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands) and Dirk Paesmans (born 1965 in Brussels, Belgium). Their background is in photography and video art; since the mid-1990s they started to create original artworks for the World Wide Web. A few years later, they also turned to software art and artistic computer game modification. Since 2002, they have been in what has been called their "Screen Grab" period, making video works by recording the computer monitor's output while working, playing video games, or coding. Jodi's "Screen Grab" period began with the four-screen video installation My%Desktop (2002), which premiered at the Plugin Media Lab in Basel. Artdaily.org - The First Art Newspaper on the Net La era de los procesos Tags: bernardo gutiérrezCreative Commonsera de los procesos Alguien debería remezclar aquella frase de John Lennon (¿o era de Eric Clapton?): “La vida es aquello que pasa mientras haces otra cosa”. Demos un paso más. Ahora, algunos argumentos. New media art Newskool ASCII Screenshot New media art is a genre that encompasses artworks created with new media technologies, including digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art, video games, computer robotics, and art as biotechnology. The term differentiates itself by its resulting cultural objects and social events, which can be seen in opposition to those deriving from old visual arts (i.e. traditional painting, sculpture, etc.). This concern with medium is a key feature of much contemporary art and indeed many art schools and major Universities now offer majors in "New Genres" or "New Media"[1] and a growing number of graduate programs have emerged internationally.[2] New Media Art often involves interaction between artist and observer or between observers and the artwork, which responds to them. History[edit] In 1958 Wolf Vostell becomes the first artist who incorporates a television set into one of his works. Themes[edit] Education[edit]
