Incredible Space Maximization in a Small Studio Apartment
You’ve seen a lot of ingenious ideas on how to decorate small studio apartments on Freshome. Here is another tiny apartment that manages to maximize space and create a cozy living environment as well. The East Village Studio Apartment comes from JPDA Architects, stretches over an area of 46 square meters (500 square feet) and was built as a little “nest” for the owners who also work here. It has all the utilities a common looking contemporary home has and dare we say a lot more. This original crib has storage space and shelves in the most unusual and unexpected places, reducing clutter and contributing to a clean and fresh interior design.

Ronel Jordaan's Rock Cushions (by @baekdal) #design
In late January I wrote about the cool looking rock cushions "LivingStones". Then Sian Eliot (from Willowlamp Studio) commented that the South African designer "Ronel Jordaan" has been making rock cushions for years. Naturally I had to investigate the case. I looked up Ronel Jordaan's website, contacted her, and found that she had indeed made rock cushions since December 2004. Ronel Jordaan's cushions are also completely hand-made, hand-dyed, hand-carded, made out of felt, and have no stitches. You can get the rocks in several colors like cream, pale brown, pale grey, mid grey, dark grey, charcoal, brown, and DK brown. There isn't anything too exciting going on around my house but I figure if I make myself share some photos every now and then it will keep me motivated to keep puttering about and stop being so miserable that I'm still stuck in this sh*thole. :) First up - there is a new piece of art in my home. One of my favourite homes I have featured since starting this blog with Jo 7 years ago is Tom's apartment in the Hollywood Professional Building on Hollywood Blvd. We have kept in touch since then and the day after the Academy awards Tom sent me an email. Tom often strolls along Hollywood Blvd and takes photos of wacky people (check out his Flickr), and did so the day of the Academy Awards. Mr. I did a bit of rearranging of my kitchen shelves yesterday. I went to Ikea Friday to get a frame for Tom's cat photo (I wanted thin black, which to my horror was nowhere to be found so I had to use a silver one), and spotted this really cool chair cover. I KNEW the cats would take it over!
