Depuis une quinzaine d’année, la collection « textes à l’appui » de La Découverte publie des livres de référence dans le domaine de l’histoire et de l’anthropologie des sciences et des techniques. Cette série, dirigée par Michel Callon et Bruno Latour, propose de trop rares traductions de l’abondante littérature qui témoigne de la vigueur des Science, Technology and Society (STS) Studies dans le monde anglo-saxon. On se souvient de l’attention portée en 1993 par une très large communauté scientifique à la publication en français du Léviathan et la pompe à vide. Hobbes et Boyle entre science et technique de Steven Shapin et Simon Schaeffer. Mais la plupart des « classiques » du genre ne sont disponibles qu’en anglais. On peut citer l’œuvre de Thomas P. La traduction de ce livre, parfois un peu littérale, est donc une occasion trop rare de se familiariser avec un courant de recherche dans lequel les objets et les systèmes techniques sont abordés dans leur dimension politique.

The annual GenCon gaming convention is one of the biggest gatherings of geekly types in the world. So it probably won't suprise you that it's also one of the highest concentrations of Shirt.Woot tees outside of our warehouse. Two of our number, Dave and Luke, go every year - but this year, along with the capes and the chainmail, an elite few among the GenCon mob were lookin' sharp in their Shirt.Woot finery... Unlike previous years, there were no reported zombie fatalities at GenCon 2008. Another non-surprise: the only two Woot shirts Dave saw on multiple people involved zombies and dragons. Speaking of, this tiny little dragon has nothing to do with Shirt.Woot, except that we exude a similar sense of awesomeness. Dave's pretty sure this is one of the guys who said they packed nothing but Woot shirts for the convention. According to the latest exchange rates, a Woot shirt is worth 97.32 words. Lichtenberg Figures: The Fractal Patterns of Lightning Strike Scars
Mar 10, 2012 Being struck by lightning is a dangerous and scary experience and can even be fatal. Sometimes, the electrical discharge can leave a tattoo-like marking or scar known as a Lichtenberg figure. The patterns created are known to be examples of fractals. Lichtenberg figures are branching electric discharges that sometimes appear on the surface or the interior of insulating materials. In 1777, Lichtenberg built a large electrophorus to generate high voltage static electricity through induction. Although Lichtenberg only studied 2-dimensional (2D) figures, modern high voltage researchers study 2D and 3D figures (electrical trees) on, and within, insulating materials [Souce: Wikipedia]. With more new new ponies appearing in 1985, than ever before, My Little Pony came in to 1986 with a movie, followed by a TV series, and even extra ponies as the year went on. Of all the Little Ponies ever made, there were more So Soft Ponies than any other in Year 4 alone. Heart Throb (pegasus) is a paler shade of lavender (than the original) with curly (standard-length) dark pink hair, and blue eyes. Cherries Jubilee (Earth pony) is peach with curly (standard-length) coral hair, and green eyes. Gusty (unicorn) is white with straight (standard-length) deep green hair (w/red mane streak) and more yellowy-green eyes (than the original). Posey (Earth pony) is yellow with pink (that can fade to white straight, standard-length) hair, and green eyes.
