Motion: Laws of Motion There was this fellow in England named Sir Isaac Newton. A little bit stuffy, bad hair, but quite an intelligent guy. He worked on developing calculus and physics at the same time. Electron Distributions Instructions Before viewing an episode, download and print the note-taking guides, worksheets, and lab data sheets for that episode, keeping the printed sheets in order by page number. During the lesson, watch and listen for instructions to take notes, pause the video, complete an assignment, and record lab data. Simple Mechanics Cams The basic principle of the cam is to turn a circular motion into a linear one. This is referred to as reciprocating movement. In it's simplest form you turn a handle to make something move up and down.
For teachers - Ausgrid Online Electricity ResourceAusgrid’s Online Electricity Resource offers information-based content and a range of practical activities aimed at encouraging students to engage with the electricity unit of the Stage 4 and 5 Science syllabuses. The interactive resource contains syllabus content, online quizzes, interactive learning objects, animations and experiments. The resource has a strong emphasis on ‘conducting science research projects’ and will assist students to complete all the Stage 5 'Skills' encompassed in the ‘Working Scientifically’ outcomes. SectionsThe content within the site is separated into two sections. plant structure bi Seed Plant Overview: The plant body consists of two basic parts--- the shoot system and the root system Shoot system is above ground and includes organs such as leaves, buds, stems, flowers, and fruits The functions of the shoot system include photosynthesis, reproduction, storage, transport, and hormone production The root system is below ground and includes roots as well as modified stem structures such as tubers and rhizomes The functions of the root system include anchorage, absorption, storage, transport, and production of certain hormones Seed plants contain 2 types of vascular tissue (xylem & phloem) to help transport water, minerals, & food throughout the root & shoot systems Plant cells have several specialized structures including a central vacuole for storage, plastids for storage of pigments, and a thick cell wall of cellulose Plant cells are all box-shaped in appearance Meristems: Root Tip with Meristems Specialized Plant Cells:
Dark matter is the thread connecting galaxy clusters Simulations of the Universe on the largest scales show an unexpected resemblance to nerve cells in the human brain, with galaxy clusters playing the role of the cell body and thinner filaments of matter linking them like axons. Galaxy surveys (such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, or SDSS) show that galaxies do cluster like our simulations predict. But the filaments that should connect them have been harder to find.
Five-Minute Film Festival: The Science of Sports Editor's Note: VideoAmy here ... I'm excited to have Edutopia's new Web Video Strategy Coordinator, Keyana Stevens, guest curating today's Five-Minute Film Festival. You may be seeing more of Keyana in this space moving forward, I'm sure you'll love her picks as much as I do! All the attention around the World Cup last month got me thinking: sports offers a perfect opportunity to explore scientific concepts like force, motion, potential energy, velocity, and torque. Use these videos to inspire your students to look beyond the surface of the game's latest score and find out why a ball bounces, how physics keeps a bike upright, and how a football slices through the air to travel long distances. You just might be able to spark a sporty kid's interest in science -- or vice versa!
Here’s Why You Should Convert Your Music To 432 Hz “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” – Nikola Tesla “What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.” – Albert Einstein Tesla said it. Einstein Agreed. Science proved it. A Milk Jug Skeleton is a Fun Recycled Craft Decoration for Halloween Years ago I created one of these Milk Jug Skeletons for Halloween. Just recently I was cleaning out my craft room and came across the directions again and thought I would share for those who have never seen it before. My Milk Jug Skeleton I think got lost in one of my many moves years ago and now that I have found the pattern I think I may have to create another one. This Skeleton would be a craft for an older child or adult since there is a lot of cutting involved, but it is well worth the effort. Not only does it look cool, but you are also recycling all those Gallon Milk or Water Containers into a Halloween Decoration that is sure to bring lots of conversation when the Trick or Treaters come to the door.
