An Easy DIY Lipstick Palette — Product Girl August 28th, 200822 Comments Have too many lipsticks and want a better option to carry them around? Jenbabae from the Makeup Alley forums has an easy do-it-yourself lipstick palette you can do at home. All you need is your favorite lip balms or lipsticks, a palette with however many wells you would like (you can find some great empty palettes at Japonesque), 1 teaspoon stainless steel measuring spoon, floss and flame. Cute right? The first step is to take the product you’ll be adding to the palette and use floss to slice through it as shown. It will soon look like this. BLOG Feb 11 This is my newest obsession – newspaper fingernails! Recently, I was reading Little Chief Honeybee‘s blog & in this entry, I saw a photo of newspaper nails. I thought to myself, “Omg, this is the best thing I’ve ever seen! Supplies needed: ♥ Light-coloured nail polish (white, pastels, cream, etc) ♥ Clear fingernail polish for a top-coat ♥ A newspaper ♥ Rubbing alcohol & small container to pour it into Directions: ♥ Cut out 10 sections of text from a newspaper. ♥ Paint your nails with a base-coat of the light-coloured polish (I used white.) ♥ Pour some rubbing alcohol into your small dish. ♥ Take a strip of your newspaper, hold it down firmly on your fingernail. ♥ Slowly & carefully peel off the newspaper strip. ♥ Repeat process for all 10 nails & then use your clear polish as a protective top-coat. Worlds Easiest Skirt My sewing skills are pretty much limited to making my machine go forwards and backwards with a straight stitch. If you can do that (and also handle a pair of scissors), you can make this skirt. This lesson plan comes largely thanks to Susan of freshly picked, whose incredible and much more lucid elastic-waist skirt pattern you can find here. The first several steps are hers, and are much easier to understand on her blog. P.S. In between these steps, measure your waist and the length you'd like the skirt. And remember to wash, dry, and iron your fabric before you begin, since fabric often shrinks! I like to fold my cloth and lay the pattern on top of it so I cut two pieces at once. You can only find the pocket pattern on freshly picked--you can find it here (thank you, Susan!) This is where this pattern deviates from Susan's. Whew, this was long! And feel free to ask questions in the comment section--I'll try my best to answer them with my extremely limited knowledge.

No special brushes or pens or other nail art accoutrements? three bottles of nail varnish (a base colour, at least one contrasting colour for the centre of the leopard spots, and a black polish to define their edges);a bit of time; anda reasonably steady hand. Simples! Begin prepping your nails by removing any old nail varnish and filing them into your desired shape. Daub on your spots! It’s time to define the edges with your black nail varnish. Pop on a topcoat and – now, this is crucial – sit back and admire your handiwork while it dries.

ELASTIC:Wide elastic from fabric stores typically comes 2 inches or 3 inches wide; white or black in color.
