The Nut LA 5 Things You Need To Avoid If You Want Radiant, Youthful Skin In 2012, consumers spent about 250 billion dollars on anti-aging lotions, creams, and cosmetics. Unfortunately, the majority of these products yield little to no actual benefit in reversing the aging process — they often just mask the effects of aging at a superficial level. Anti-aging cleansers, moisturizers, and creams work to artificially tighten and (temporarily) improve the appearance of fine lines, but they don't replenish or improve the skin from a foundational level. The first step in obtaining youthful skin is to understand how skin functions. What most people don’t know is that your overall skin health is disproportionately determined by your inner layer of skin (dermis), as opposed to the outer layer. So what are the best ways to get beautiful skin from the inside out? 1. Sunlight is the most notorious collagen cruncher, but what's surprising to most people is that sunscreens do not offer as much protection as you might think. 2. 3. 4. 5. iPhone 5 Camera Problem Addressed By Apple In Support Document Apple has posted an explanation and a quick fix for an aberration reported by iPhone 5 users. Over the past couple weeks, Apple customers have been complaining of a "purple haze" in photos taken with the iPhone 5. It's a similar problem that, according to TechCrunch, can also be seen in iPhone 4S photos but that is "far more pronounced on the iPhone 5." On Sunday, Apple Support posted an acknowledgement of the issue and offered a simple tip for users who are experiencing the "purple haze." "Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources," the post explains. Apple's solution to the problem is pretty simple: Move your camera. "Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect," the post reads. 6 Useful iOS Apps for Photographers With dozens of iPhone photographers moving to and fro throughout the bustling city streets of social media, things may be getting a bit disheartening for photographers. Let’s face it: people can get some pretty great shots with their iPhones, and these same people don’t even have a technical knowledge of how a camera works. Of course, this isn’t to bash the photography profession. After all, iPhones realistically can’t capture images akin to those which are made with high quality glass, right? Regardless of how you may feel about the iPhone photography trend, you too can use the device (and its tablet counterpart) to your advantage. Softbox Pro ($2.99) As you may know, lighting is the most necessary part of photography.
