µTorrent - un (tout) petit client BitTorrent

The Best BitTorrent Client for Windows I read that and wondered what would make it "more advanced". Seems all torrent clients are already somewhat above the average level of computer user. At least I've had some trouble explaining to people how to use torrents. I figure people who use torrents would not easily by intimated by extra features. I personally have solely used (mu)torrent for about 4 yrs. I'm not sure about that level of conversion. What I use is the feature that lets you automatically discover connected devices (like Xboxes, Tivos, iPods, and a few others). Now, I will say the conversion isn't always great. You can batch convert - drag a bunch of files onto different devices and walk away. It also appears to have features for automatic conversion to devices by assigning categories and doing local RSS feeds, but I haven't played with those. Here's their device playback description page: [www.vuze.com]

BitTorrent (software) Version 4.20 of the client was dubbed Allegro by BitTorrent Inc., in reference to protocol extensions developed by the company to accelerate download performance and ISP manageability.[5] Since version 6.0, the BitTorrent client has been a rebranded version of µTorrent. As a result, it is no longer open source. The BitTorrent client enables a user to search for and download torrent files using a built-in search box ("Search for torrents") in the main window, which opens the BitTorrent torrent search engine page with the search results in the user's default web browser. The current client includes a range of features, including multiple parallel downloads. DNA is also different from traditional BitTorrent in that it is a UDP-based protocol that has replaced regular TCP-based bandwidth throttling with a much more sensitive bandwidth management technique. Navin in a podcast interview claimed that he attempted to sell BitTorrent DNA in January 2005. Official website

A beginner's guide to BitTorrent sob, demonoid is no private tracker. half the torrents are externally tracked from the likes of tpb. even then it's ridiculously slow. and if you think oink is impossible to get into, good luck with the other great and more elusive and unknown private trackers out there. I'm tempted to recommend inviteshare, but most of the best aren't even on there..and the ones that are..fat chance of getting an invite (particularly when your email address is out there in the open to the site admins too...). Also, pg2 is only as good as its blacklist, which is not good at all because it blocks IP addresses arbitrarily based on known blocks belonging to certain organizations and what have you. as for transmission, most of the issues have been fixed and some sites have started allowing it again, but it's still missing a fair number of features vs. the likes of Azureus - e.g. protocol encryption, which comes in handy if your ISP shapes your bittorrent traffic regardless of the legality of the torrent.
