Kenya Hara, Yoshitaka Mizutani. 2017 Started in 1983, Hiroshima Appeals is a yearly poster project in observation of the atomic bombing of Japan in 1945 with the goal of promoting peace at home and abroad. Designer Kenya Hara writes: “This is an illustration drawn from the perspective of looking up from below a mushroom cloud. The embodiment of the worst evil in human history explodes just overhead of the people of Hiroshima and of Japan. I am filled with despair with the reality that nuclear weapons are being stockpiled in quantities that can destroy the Earth several times over while being called ‘deterrence.’

Ces deux facteurs sont à l’origine de profondes modifications du rapport à la forme typo-graphique, qui, dans le domaine de la production, comme dans celui de la « consommation » si l’on prend le point de vue du lecteur, invitent à reconsidérer la lettre en dehors de ses usages légitimes et des critères esthétiques dominants. Repenser la valeur du signe dans la perspective de ses usages, c’est aussi réfléchir, en dehors des classifications proposant des catégories transcendantes, aux conventions qui nous lient à son existence.

Graffitecture ISELP The ISELP (Scientific Institute for the Study of Plastic Language ) had selected my Graffitecture project for the open call Hors d’oeuvre 2012. I was invited to make installation and interventions in the entrance hall of the institute as well as in their restaurant. The works were to be visible for one year. This project developed in several stages, each of them was intended to be viewed as an independant work: - Recycling and painting of an hundred of pieces of wood. - Transportation of the components to later be assembled in the form of a « mobile graffitecture » from my studio located 2 kms from the ISEPL. - Precious lay out of each piece of wood. - Installation of the sculpture « Graffitecture » painted in the same white paint as the walls of the ISELP. - Burning of sculpture in seven intervals. L’ISELP (Institut Scientifique de l’Étude du Langage Plastique) sélectionna ma proposition de travail sur les Graffitectures lors du concours Hors d’œuvre 2012. Installation. Assembly.
