Minion language - do you speak it? - Wordtree By Caroline Godwin With all the hype about Despicable Me 2, I decided to explore the Minion language and find out how French director Pierre Coffin went about creating the Minion lingo. In Despicable Me 1 and 2, Coffin does the voices for most of the Minions, both in English and in many other languages where he did the dubbing. When creating the language, he purposely went with a gibberish approach for comedy purpose. The gibberish has meaning The minion language – known as Minionese – is understandable because so many languages are used. I particularly like the well known songs that are parodied: Boyz 2 Men’s I Swear becomes Underwear in Minionese, Copa Cabana ends up being Bella Banana and The Beach Boys’ Barbara Ann becomes Ba-Ba-Ba, Ba-Ba-Na-Na - to name but a few. By listening carefully, we can identify words from a variety of languages such as French, English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Filipino and more. Viacom Unveils New Branded Content Division Viacom is doing at scale something that TV entertainment companies—especially those with a wide footprint in the unscripted world—are relying heavily on for growth: It's creating a full division devoted to branded content. (The Nickelodeon family of kids' networks isn't a part of this—those channels operate under very different advertising rules.) The new group is called Viacom Velocity and will work closely with the marketing divisions of every adult network in the Viacom portfolio, including Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Spike, TV Land and BET. Instagram is Great for Marketers, But Probably Not for Long - CMO Today Marketers using social media might want to direct more of their efforts to Instagram. The photo-centric service is currently more brand-friendly than other major social networks, according to Forrester Research. A new report by the market research firm, titled “Use Instagram Now,” found consumers are currently much more inclined to like, share, and comment on brands’ posts on Instagram than they are on FacebookFB +0.83% and TwitterTWTR -10.29%. In fact posts by brands generate an average of 58 times more engagement per follower on Instagram than they do on Facebook, and 120 times more than on Twitter, the report said. Instagram delivers high interaction rates with brand content for three main reasons, Forrester says. But Instagram will only deliver that level of engagement for a limited amount of time, the report warns. As a result marketers should make the most of the Instagram opportunity now, Forrester says, and be prepared to jump to new services as and when they emerge.
